Setting up authentication options
Authentication verifies user identity, ensuring they are who they claim to be. Medallia Ideas offers various authentication options, allowing multiple types for your community.
Authentication options
- Crowdicity account
- By default, all Medallia Ideas communities allow users to create a Medallia Ideas account using their email address. When users register a new account with their email address, the software sends an email to that address with a link to click that will verify their email address. This verification step is how Medallia Ideas authenticates their identity; only someone who had access to the email address will be able to click on the verification link.
- Single sign-on
If your organization has an active user directory, you can connect it to your Medallia Ideas community, allowing users to log in with their usual credentials. Choose between SAML and Microsoft Azure for single sign-on, depending on your directory's setup. For more details, refer to our guide on Understanding single sign-on.
Set up authentication options
The authentication options for your community are located in the Community Settings area of the Crowd Management menu, under the Authentication tab.
Each option can be enabled or disabled, though Crowdicity account option cannot be disabled. For more information on enabling single sign on options, please see our guide to Understanding single sign-on.
You can also determine the order the options appear on the sign in screen, using the Order drop-down field.
In the example below, the Medallia Ideas account options is set to First, and the OneLogin Second.
When you have made any changes to the authentication options click Save Changes.
