Medallia Video in Digital SDK
The power of Medallia Video is seamlessly embedded into Digital Mobile SDK. Invite users to provide their feedback using audio and video, introducing a whole new world into your feedback capture.
Simply drag and drop the new Media Capture question type into your Digital In-App Form. Zero integration effort is required. Video enables a mobile app respondent to speak openly about their experience and cover multiple topics in sequence, which often results in information that could be critical to resolving a particular issue. All of this data is synced to Medallia Experience Cloud, with a transcript automatically generated for each piece of feedback.
This section assumes you are familiar with the Video documentation and covers only the changes in kcs.
Media Capture Question Type
When Digital property has Medallia Video enabled, the survey editor includes the "Media Capture" question type, that provides:
- Video Capture
- Audio Capture
- Video Upload
The Media Capture element is only supported on properties using survey form 2.0 and is compatible with advanced features such as conditional display and custom CSS.
Android Example
Media Capture questions in a survey that are configured for video capture enable the user to provide either an existing photograph from the device's library, capture a video using the device or choosing a file to upload.
Digital In-App Experience
Media Capture questions follow Digital's best practices of being as non-intrusive and seamless as possible. Surveys that include a media capture question behave as follows.
- Permissions: users are prompted to allow the relevant permissions when selecting the media capture elements. Video and audio request camera permission, media uploads request photo or library permission.
- Time Limitations: To ensure proper collection of media feedback into Medallia, by default an uploaded video capture must not exceed 300 seconds. Use the Set video time limit option to change the limit.
- Video capture is completed using the native device and OS Camera
- Audio capture is completed directly by Medallia SDK Survey Form
- Only one media feedback record can be submitted per survey form
- Note: Media Capture questions meet all Digital Mobile SDK and Medallia standards: WCAG, native design guidelines, offline supported and so on.
Tip: Digital Command Center customization supports setting the allowed video duration to any duration lower than 300 seconds
Media capture specific fields
A survey that includes a Media capture element supports the default fields and provides these fields for configuration:
- Audio Response toggles the microphone button, used to provide an audio recording as part of the feedback.
- Placeholder is the text shown in the dialog before any audio is recorded. The default is Tap to record audio and the maximum characters is 40.
- Video Response / Upload Video File toggles the camera button, used to provide a video recording as part of the feedback.
- Set video time limit configures the maximum length of the video file. The value is measured in seconds and supports between 1 second and 300 seconds.
Digital Feedback with media in reports
When media is captured as part of the feedback, the survey report's comments section includes playable version of the media, for example a video. The record includes automatic verbatim transcription, Text Analytics processing, and feedback attached to the customer profile.
The feedback record Session Replay field has a link to the media file.
The link View more in Medallia Video Media Library opens the file in the Video Dashboard.

All standard Medallia Video capabilities such as text transcriptions, showreels and more are supported.
