The trigger settings process has multiple steps, not all of them apply to all of the invite types. The Targeting and Quarantine steps generally have the same options, regardless of which type of invite is currently selected. Depending on the type of invitation selected in the Invite Type dropdown, for the options available in the Invite Display step see:
Targeting step
Use the targeting settings to determine when you want to display an invitation, what questions you want to ask, and who you want to target according to your preferences and specifications.
-
Targeting step active.
-
Trigger: Specific percentage of users to target. See sessions.
-
Users who have visited your app: Target users based on how many times they have visited your app.
-
Time in live session: Set a minimum or maximum amount of time that passes to trigger an invitation. This calculates the time a user spends in the application while the application is in the foreground.Note: When user have multiple browser tabs from the same website open, intercept surveys with this targeting parameter will appear in only one browser tab. Each browser tab is assigned a unique ID number, which is then sorted in an array. When the targeted time in session ends, the position of the tab in the array determines on which tab the survey will appear. This prevents intercept surveys from opening in each browser tab.
-
App version: Specific application version that users must be using to receive an invitation. Version supported format is N.N.N where N can be a number or * for all, for example: 1.1.*. Supports advanced methods of specifying the version number, such as regular expressions.
-
OS version: Specific operation system version that users must be using to receive an invitation. Version supported format is N.N.N where N can be a number or * for all, for example: 1.1.*. Supports advanced methods of specifying the version number, such as regular expressions.
-
Custom Rule: Select a rule to apply from the dropdown. Rules must contain only custom parameters for the specific survey. Rules are evaluated during page load; if any rule is not valid, invitations are not displayed. See Targeting by custom parameter for more information.
Quarantine step
The quarantine step controls how targeting is restricted to certain groups of users. For example, use quarantine to ensure that users who have submitted feedback are not targeted again for a amount of time to avoid over surveying.
-
Exclude users who have submitted feedback in the past: Avoid targeting the user if they provided feedback in the specified number of days.
-
Exclude users who have declined a survey invitation in the past: Avoid inviting the user if they declined to provide feedback in the specified number of days.
