Turning Link Tracking into eVars

To turn Digital Link Tracking into Adobe eVars, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to the Adobe Analytics web page.

  2. In the menu bar, select Admin > Report Suites to open the Report Suite Manage Adobe Analytics Integration Guide.

  3. Select the report suite to enhance with Digital events.

  4. In the table menu, select Edit Settings > General > Processing Rules to see a list of processing rules that exist on your page.

  5. Click Add Rule.

    Note: If Add Rule is not available or if a message with the text Why can't I edit these rules opens, you may not be authorized by Adobe to work with processing rules. See Become authorized to use processing rules for additional information.
  6. Enter a rule title (for example, 'Nebula Events').
  7. Add a condition to process the rule, only if eventName was set. The condition dropdown should show a list of possible variables from which to select. Scroll down to the Context Variables section and select eventname(Context Data). This should appear as an option if Digital has already been sending Adobe Analytics events. If not, type 'eventname' and click Add eventname context data. Change 'equals' to 'is set'. Adding a condition.

  8. In the Then do the following section, select Overwrite value of. Select the eVar to set with the value (for example, Commerce Variable 1(eva1). In the With section, select eventname(Context Data) to set the eVar with the Digital contextData variable name.

  9. After adding an eventName, add another action using set more eVars with other Digital context data as necessary. Some examples include formID, feedbackUUID, and OSAT_11. Then click Save at the bottom of the page.

    Note: A warning may open asking for validation that all directions were followed correctly. Click OK to indicate that all events coming in from Digital should be processed with the new processing rule. It may take Adobe a while to process new events; as such, they may not immediately appear in real time.
