Create and edit filters

Role required: Customer Admin, Channel Admin, or Pro. See Video user roles.

Create filters to apply to media in a Video channel. Use the Filter Editor to add new filters to media or edit the text of existing filter names. For more information about filters and how to use them, see Filters.

Create filters from either the Media Library or from any Media View page.

Creating filters from the Media Library

  1. Click All Filters to open the Filter drawer.

  2. Click Settings icon Manage Custom Filters to open the Filter Editor modal window.

  3. Click Add Filters icon. Create filter.

  4. In the Filter Name field, input the filter name.

  5. From the Filter Group menu:

    1. Select the filter group to nest the new filter in. Or,

    2. Select Add New Filter Group... and input the new filter group name.

  6. Click Create to save the filter. This also saves the new filter group if one was created.

  7. (Optional) Create more filters as needed.

  8. Click x to close the Filter Editor modal window.

Tip: If you want to add a new filter to an existing filter group, open the Filter Editor and click the Group, then click Add Filters icon. Create filter.

Creating filters from a Media View page

  1. Click Filter Editor.

  2. Click Add Filters icon. Create filter.

  3. In the Filter Name field, input the filter name.

  4. From the Filter Group menu:

    1. Select the filter group to nest the new filter in. Or,

    2. Select Add New Filter Group... and input the new filter group name.

  5. Click Create to save the filter. This also saves the new filter group if one was created.

  6. (Optional) Create more filters as needed.

  7. Click x to close the Filter Editor modal window.

When you create filters from a Media View page, you can apply them to the media file. For more information, see Media View Filters.

Editing filter text

Edit the text of a filter to change how it appears in the platform for all users. Edits appear in both the Filter drawer display and the filter on media it is applied to.

To edit the text of a filter:

  1. In a Video channel, access the Filter Editor.

    1. From the Media Library, click All Filters >Settings icon Manage Custom Filters.

    2. On a Media View page, click Filter Editor.

  2. From the menu on the left of the Filter Editor modal window, select the filter group that contains the filter.

  3. Hover over the filter and click Edit icon Edit filter title.

  4. Input edits to the filter text.

  5. Click Checkmark icon to save changes.

  6. (Optional) Edit more filters as needed.

  7. Click x to close the Filter Editor modal window.

Note: You cannot edit the text of a filter group in the Video platform.

Deleting filters

Role required: Customer Admin. See Video user roles.

Delete a filter to remove it from all media the filter is applied to. Deleting a filter will also remove it as an option in the Filter Editor.

  1. In a Video channel, access the Filter Editor.

    1. From the Media Library, click All Filters >Settings icon Manage Custom Filters.

    2. On a Media View page, click Filter Editor.

  2. From the menu on the left of the Filter Editor modal window, select the filter group that contains the filter.

  3. To delete the filter, hover over the filter and clickDelete filter icon Delete filter.

  4. Click Confirm.

Filters remain in any Data export created prior to deleting the filter.

Important: Video cannot retrieve filters if they are removed by a user.

Deleting filter groups

Role required: Customer Admin. See Video user roles.

Delete a filter group to remove both the group and all filters within the group.

  1. In a Video channel, access the Filter Editor.

    1. From the Media Library, click All Filters >Settings icon Manage Custom Filters.

    2. On a Media View page, click Filter Editor.

  2. From the menu on the left of the Filter Editor modal window, hover on the filter group.

  3. Click Delete icon Delete filter group.

  4. Click Delete.

Filters remain in any Data export created prior to deleting filter groups.

Important: Video cannot retrieve filters if they are removed by a user.
