Screen capture feature

Add a screen capture component to surveys and customize where it appears on surveys, allowing users to take, retake, and delete screen captures to submit as part of feedback.

Restriction: This feature is not available on Medallia GovCloud. Contact your Medallia representative for more information.
Restriction: This feature is inactive by default. Ask your Medallia expert to file a Feature activation request with Medallia Support.

To enable screen capture, navigate to the Screen Capture tab in Form Settings and select the screen capture option. Click Save.

The screen capture component is included in the list of available fields. Drag it to any survey to add and configure it. Note that:

  • Screen capture is not supported on mobile browsers.
  • Only one screen capture component can be added to a survey.
  • Due to the nature of web components they are not captured properly.

DOM element selection

Screen capture allows the user to select specific DOM HTML elements when capturing. Screen captures with highlighted DOM elements are submitted as part of the user's feedback.

Use either the existing area selection tool or the DOM element selection tool when taking captures to submit with feedback.

Configuration options

Screen capture configuration options.

Internal Name
Name of the field as it will appear on reports.
Label
Label that appears above capture image button or field.
Text
Text that appears on the capture image button.
Retake Text
Text that describes the retake image options.
Color
Color of the screen capture button.
Delete Button Tooltip Text
Tooltip text that appears when hovering over the delete screen capture button.
Conditional Display
See Conditional display for details about this field.
Custom CSS Class
URL of the assigned CSS class.

Widget Settings

Configure the Capture Toolbox display using the following options.

Instructions Text
Instructional text for taking a screen capture.
Capture Button — Button Text
Text for the capture button.
Capture Button — Tooltip Text
Tooltip text that appears when hovering over the capture button.
Dismiss Button — Button Text
Text for the dismiss button.
Dismiss Button — Tooltip Text
Tooltip text that appears when hovering over the dismiss button.

Area selection tool

Users can drag the cursor to highlight page sections as required or remove highlighting.

Screen capture options

Once a user has captured the screen area, the screen capture button on the survey shows a check mark and includes the screenshot as part of the feedback when it is submitted. The user can retake a screen capture by clicking Retake screen capture. To remove the screen capture from submitted feedback, they can click the X on the Retake a screen capture button.
