Medallia Digital Web 2.56 release notes

Released starting 29th July 2024

System requirements

Digital for Web requirements

  • Digital Command Center browsers: Latest two versions of Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox.

Survey-taking requirements

  • Desktop browsers
    • Latest two versions of Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox.

    • Other browsers or older versions will likely work; however, Medallia cannot certify a full experience in browsers older than the latest two versions. Any issues will be handled on a best-effort basis.

  • Mobile browsers

    • Google Chrome: latest version

    • Android: latest version

    • Safari for iOS: latest version

  • Network connectivity requirements: Digital surveys require unobstructed network connectivity over an HTTPS connection. If your organization employs a content security policy or any other network filtering method, you might need to allow-list Medallia domains. For more information, refer to allow-list documentation or contact your Digital expert.
  • ADA / WCAG compliance: Digital Web is certified WCAG 2.1 Level AA. For the best survey experience, Medallia recommends the following screen reader and browser combinations:
    • Microsoft Windows: Mozilla Firefox + NVDA and Google Chrome + JAWS

    • Apple MacOS: Safari + Voice Over

    • Android: Google Chrome + TalkBack

    • iOS: Safari + Voice Over

    • Safari MacOS users: To enable tabbing in Safari, it is required that the Press tab to highlight each item on a webpage box, located under Safari Preferences - Advanced, is selected.

Release highlights

General

  • In an upcoming release we are officially deprecating the functionality of legacy interfaces and APIs for Digital Feedback customers who are using the Experience Cloud V2 Integration. See Migrate to integration version 2.

  • In early 2025 Survey Form 2.0 is scheduled to be globally enabled. Self-service migration to Survey Form 2.0 is available for all customers. Migrating to Survey Form 2.0 now is strongly recommended because the legacy survey form is not receiving support for our latest features, particularly for accessibility compliance.

Currently we are not forcing the migration, however it will become mandatory in the future. Please migrate to Survey Form 2.0 now to be ready for the global enablement.

  • The Digital Command Center is being updated to a more modern technical and visual architecture for all offering types. During this release, enabled customers experience the new Command Center user interface in these screens:

    • Rule Engine
    • Custom Parameters
    • Approved Domains

Additionally, a new switch property modal is available.

Note: During this transition period, screens that have not been migrated are loaded using the legacy interface.
  • If you are using a Content Security Policy (CSP) without wildcards, the list of domains to add to the CSP allow list for Digital has been extended. For the new Digital analytics to function correctly, ensure your CSP contains addresses for analytics.fe.<domain> in the connect-src, script-src, and img-src sections. See Allow-list guidance.

  • A warning message now appears when trying to delete a language from the translations modal

  • This feature is available upon request. Ask your Medallia expert to file a Feature activation request with Medallia Support.

For Survey Drafts users, the logic of self-service creation of reusable fields has been improved. Note that in order to make a field reusable there cannot be a published version of the given form.

Digital Health Watch

We are excited to announce the launch of Digital Feedback Health Watch reporting in Medallia Experience Cloud.

This solution is built on a modernized technology stack to optimize performance and reliability while enabling custom reports and alerting across data sets to meet your Customer and Employee Experience Management needs. The new functionality is delivered as a packaged reporting app installed on customer instances for standardized survey engagement insights. Customers can expect that existing Digital Feedback Health Check functionality will remain enabled and available for use until its shutdown during November 2024.

Digital Health Watch Analytics Reporting 2.0 is launched in the Digital version 2.56 summer 2024 release and is scheduled to be Generally Available for all Commercial customers by fall 2024, so please hold tight as this major upgrade is rolled out! We are also pleased to announce that the new solution is FedRAMP compliant and we expect to achieve authorization for GovCloud customers in 2025.

In order to deliver this powerful new functionality for your program as soon as possible, limited technical support for the existing Digital Feedback Health Check solution will be provided in the interim until its shutdown during November 2024.

If you wish to export your current Digital Health Check data you can download it as a spreadsheet directly from the report within Experience Cloud.

If you currently allow specific domains in your CSP, review our updated Allow-list guidance guidance. If you have any major concerns, please raise them with Medallia Support.

Hybrid Hosted clients (Standard or Dynamic) should deploy a new package version by November 2024.

We appreciate your partnership during this transition period and are certain that this upgrade will provide significant value for your program.

As always, if you have any questions regarding this product update, please contact your Medallia Professional Services or Customer Success Manager.

Resolved issues

General

  • The robustness of embedded forms has been improved, ensuring proper display for various use cases and screen sizes.

  • The following changes were made to embedded forms with dynamic height:

    • show the Thank you page when it doesn't contain an image.
    • no longer show a redundant vertical scroll of several pixels if they are longer than the window and contain an image.
  • On certain JavaScript frameworks, closing the form increased the width of the hosting page.

  • Digital properties where there were duplicated custom parameter names have been detected and automatically repaired. As part of the repair, for custom parameters that were duplicated a number was appended to the name. This does not impact reporting or feedback collection.

  • Conditional display conditions based on the "Does not equal" condition are now evaluated properly.

  • It is no longer possible to add alternative options to a component of type dropdown, radio-button or checkboxes if the mapped Experience Cloud field is corrupt.

  • Minor fixes for improved accessibility including:

    • invalid IDs no longer added to "Aria-labelledby" and Aria-describedby" attributes
    • improved mark up where <fieldset> was used instead of <div>
  • Resolved an issue where a required field error message was not read properly for some components in Safari and VoiceOver for MacOS.

  • Removed the "!important" flag from the button styling for CSP enabled customers.

  • In some rare conditions screen capture images were not processed properly.

  • Using Emoji icons in the screen capture widget description caused a URI malformed error.

  • The translations modal now returns an error in case a translation file with empty fields has been imported.

  • When the default language was not set to English a warning about missing option translations was shown.

  • This feature is available upon request. Ask your Medallia expert to file a Feature activation request with Medallia Support.
For beta users of the improved JavaScript runtime, the Digital form now properly appears on iPad 13.
Note: A configuration refresh is required to enable this fix.
  • Certain 3rd party Chrome Debug extensions interfered with the rendering of the Digital Feedback form.
Note: A configuration refresh is required to enable this fix.
