Introduction to Data Export v8
Sharing your data in Data Export v8 format provides you with a .zip of CSV files, containing information about both captured customer attributes and customer events.
Why choose Data Export v8 Format for my output?
Choose Data Export v8 as your output format if you want to:
- download your data locally to check its integrity,
- analyze your data in a BI tool, or
- merge your data with existing customer data held, for example, in your Data Warehouse, to enrich that data with information about customer behavior and intent, and
- you require all data relating to individual customer profiles, including data about customer events and merged TIDs.
What files are included in Data Export v8 output?
Each Data Export provides you with 3 customer data files, as follows:
As well as the customer data files, we also provide:
- Dimensions files, containing the raw customer data that is pulled into the main customer data files.
- Merge Activity file, containing a list of all TID merges for the export time period.
- Export Metadata file, containing metadata about the export itself.
What are the relationships between the files provided for each Data Export request?
The diagram below shows the relationships between the files included in each data export, as used in Power BI. The customer table is included because many-to-many relationships are not possible in Power BI. You can omit this table in a database when joining customer events and customer attributes tables, directly, using a TID. If joining customer events tables using merge_activity.csv you should not use then the customer table at all, replacing it with a list generated from the events table, if required.
