Create and manage attributes
Learn how to create an attribute in MXO and how to perform actions on a specific attribute such as editing or deleting it.
Attribute creation and data capture involve a two-step process:
Create the attribute for data storage.
Establish an attribute capture point to collect data into the attribute.
Create an attribute
In MXO, go to Collect > Attributes.
Click + Create and specify the attribute type: customer attribute or activity attribute.
Enter the attribute details as follows:
Field Description Name Provide a unique name. Description Optional. Describe the attribute. Data Type Choose Text, Boolean, Numeric, or Topic. Key Attribute For customer attributes, select if it's a key. API Name Assign a unique API name for key attributes. Storage Method Decide on the storage format in MXO. Click Save to finish the creation process.
Edit a customer attribute
In MXO, go to Collect > Attributes.
Find the desired attribute in the list and click
Edit.
Click Save to finish the editing process.
Important considerations
System attributes provided byMXO can not be edited.
System attributes and key attributes can not be deleted.
You can not change the API name (which only applies to customer attributes marked as keys) after the attribute has been created. If the API name has changed, you will need to create a new key attribute.

Delete an attribute
In MXO, go to Collect > Attributes.
Find the desired attribute in the list and click
Delete.
- Click Delete to complete the deletion process.Important: You cannot delete key or system attributes from MXO.
