Downloading challenge activity

Download challenge ideas, comments and votes to view them offline or to store them in another system.

Downloading challenge activity allows you to work with the information outside of Medallia Ideas.

Challenge statistics

The Analytics section of Crowd Management, the Data Export tab shows a list of the ideas that have been posted in a challenge, along with the number of votes and comments they received. Open the tab to see a list of the Published and Archived challenges in your community.

Note: If you want to look at the ideas and statistics for a challenge that you've unpublished, go to Challenge Management to Archive the challenge. When it's archived, you will see it on the challenge stats page.

Click on a challenge to see a list of ideas posted in it.

List of challenges available to download

Funnel challenges show the funnel phases to the right of the challenge summary. Click on the number of a phase to see the ideas that are in that phase; the ideas listed are only those that are in the highlighted phase.

Tip: To download any challenge activity for a single phase, select it before downloading it.

Downloading ideas from a challenge

  1. Go to Analytics in the Crowd Management menu, then click on the Data Export tab.

  2. Select the challenge from which you'd like the ideas. If there is more than one phase in the challenge, select the phase from which you want the information.

  3. To download one idea, click on the Download as HTML link next to the idea that you want to download.

  4. To download all ideas in that challenge/phase, click on the All ideas as ZIP link. If there are lots of ideas in the challenge, you'll see a pop up window that this may take several minutes to download:

  5. Press Begin Export to download a .zip file containing html files for each of the ideas, as well as any images that were attached them. You'll be shown how much of the download has processed in the next window:

You will need to extract all files to see the idea images as part of the html file, if you don't you will see a broken image icon in place of the images.

Downloading the vote log

The vote log is a record of all of the votes given to ideas in a challenge, it shows who voted for which ideas and the value of the vote.

To download the vote log for a challenge:

  1. Go to Analytics in the Crowd Management menu, then click on the Data Export tab.

  2. Select the challenge from which you'd like the vote log. If there is more than one phase in the challenge, select the phase from which you want the information.

  3. Click on the text that says Vote log, if it is a challenge without phases, or Vote log for selected phase if it does have phases.

  4. This will download a .csv file containing a log of all of the votes made in that challenge or phase.

Notes:

  • For a thumbs up rating, the vote value is 1.

  • For the thumbs up/thumbs down voting, the values are 1 for a thumbs up and -1 for a thumbs down.

  • For star rating or point score style voting, the vote value matches what the user entered (e.g., 4 out of 5 stars is a 4).

Downloading all ideas, idea scores and comments

If you want a good overview of what the ideas were, and how they scored, then the challenge .csv file is very useful.

The challenge .csv download is a file that shows a list of all ideas, their associated comments and their score. This information is presented in a spreadsheet format, which makes it easy to scan and sort the ideas.

To download a list of ideas and comments:

  1. Go to Analytics in the Crowd Management menu, then click on the Data Export tab.

  2. Select the challenge for which you'd like the download, if there is more than one phase in the challenge, select the phase from which you want the information.

  3. Click on the text that says All ideas as CSV, this will download a CSV file containing all of the ideas and comments from that challenge or phases.
