Schedules and Destinations

Export schedules for automatic delivery and destination details.

Data exports can be scheduled for automatic delivery to external system.

  • Schedules determine when to automatically run an export and deliver the resulting file.
  • Delivery methods define how to deliver the export file.
  • Notification emails identify people to receive notices when the automatic export succeeds or fails.

Schedules

When and how often to automatically run this export. An export specification can have multiple schedules, such as Every Tuesday and End of the Month.

Note: Exports typically contain only the records in the export Timeperiod since the last time the export was run.
Available for push exports (email and file transfer). Does not affect Download options.
Activate schedule(s)
Whether or not to automatically run the export per the defined schedule(s).

Each schedule has these options:

Activate schedule(s)
Whether or not the schedule(s) are operative.
Summary
Description of the schedule definition.
Frequency by
Either Days of the week, or Date and months.
Days of the week
Either Every day of the week, or only on the selected days.
Days of the month
Either Every day of the month, or only on the selected days.
Months
Either Every month of the year, or only in the selected months.
Time
Either at the specified time, or at the specified minute of the hour, every hour of the day.
Important: Export Timeperiods are always in the Local Time for Palo Alto, which is in the Pacific Time Zone and adjusts for Daylight Time. This can cause confusion and unexpected results. For example, a Timeperiod of “Yesterday” shows the previous day’s results. If the export is scheduled to run at 0100 EST (Eastern Standard Time) on May 5th, the export results will be from May 3rd because the Timeperiod is evaluated at 2200 PST on May 4th.

To avoid the confusion, ensure that schedules are set up with the time difference to PST in mind (in the example above, do not run the schedule before midnight Pacific Time).

Notification email

After running an automatic (scheduled) export, the system sends an email report to these email addresses.
When Export succeeds, send email to
Email addresses (comma separated) to receive notification the export completed.
When Export fails, send email to

Email addresses (comma separated) to receive notification the export failed. This can happen when, for example, there is bad authentication, the server is down, or some problem creating the file.

Note: For email exports, the reporting system only confirms the email was sent from Medallia. It doesn’t detect or report failures occurring on the recipient's side. For example, if an email export bounced due to an erroneous email address, the system sends a success report.
