Add content for more than one language

Display text to users in a language based on their language settings.

In communities supporting multiple languages, text can appear in the language based on the user's choice. For example, in English and French-speaking regions, the challenge brief can appear in either language based on their language settings.

The community text you can change is called Admin authored content and includes:

  • The challenge title, short brief and full brief
  • The questions on the idea submission form
  • The titles of pages in your community
  • The welcome text on the Standard home page
  • The content of any custom pages that you add
Restriction: You must choose at least two languages to use this feature. If you only want to enter content in one language, uncheck all of the boxes.

For information about configuring your community to allow multiple languages, see Allow language choice.

  1. Edit a community of challenge.
Each text field has a grey box next to it to select the language for that description.
  2. Click the grey box next to the entry field and select the language for the entry.

The available languages are abbreviated like EN_GB for English, DE_DE for German, JA_JP for Japanese, etc.

Text field followed by a language selector listing three possible languages
When you choose a language a new blank field appears for that language.
  3. Click on the grey box again to add additional languages.
Three text fields for the same prompt, one each for en_gb, de_de, and es_es
  4. Click Save changes.
Note: If you don't enter text for a selected language (e.g., the user is viewing the community in German but you only have English and French text) then the content will be shown in the default language. No text displays when there is no default language.
