Concepts and terms
When working with Digital Feedback you should be familiar with these concepts and terms.
Medallia Experience Cloud
- Reporting endpoint for all Digital Feedback data
- Data source for fields, alt-sets, units, roles, and reporting modules
- This documentation assumes familiarity with Medallia Experience Cloud documentation.
Digital Feedback
- Configured using the Digital Command Center
- Contains survey form configuration
- Custom parameter and targeting configuration
Digital Account

There is always at least one Digital account for each Medallia Experience Cloud instance or customer

Contains all of the Digital Feedback Properties for that customer

SSO configuration of access to the Digital Command Center is set at account level

Digital Feedback Web
The Digital Feedback property type which integrates into Web sites and Web applications.
Digital Feedback In-app SDK
The Digital Feedback property type which integrates into mobile device applications. Note that Android and iOS require different properties, which is important when using cross platform frameworks.
Digital Feedback Anywhere
The Digital Feedback property type which integrates into integrated devices.
Digital Feedback apps
- The structure of Digital Feedback involves the base app, which is required for all Digital deployments, and the optional best practice program apps which configure recommended defaults.
- Program apps include elements for a specific signal program including but not limited to reporting, file or data importers, emails, alerts, and so on.
Digital Command Center
The web interface used to configure your Digital Feedback properties. Accessible from the Experience Cloud Admin Suite.
Digital integration
Handles the flow of Digital Feedback signals into Medallia Experience Cloud.
Roles
Control the capabilities a specific user has within Digital. Managed in Medallia Experience Cloud.
Reporting
Provides the Digital Feedback in Medallia Experience Cloud. Shown in the Published and Unpublished tab, creates dashboards for each Digital Feedback survey.
Targeting
Configures who a survey is available for, and how and when in their journey they are invited to provide feedback.
Custom parameters
Provide additional information as part of Digital Feedback and can be used for Targeting, Alerting, and Report filtering inside of Medallia.
Rules
Provide another layer of interaction, for example trigger a survey for VIP customers when a certain custom parameter is detected on a page.
Metadata Fields
Sets the mapping of device and browser metadata to metadata fields, and the mapping of session recording integrations.
Engagement
An interaction with a potential respondent. Could be an invitation to provide feedback, rate an app, and so on.
Visitor
Someone who is using a website or web application.
User
Someone who is using an application on a mobile device or embedded device.
Respondent
Someone who has provided feedback.
