Update a released app with major and minor versions
After releasing an app, you might want to make updates either to add new functionality (a new major version) or to fix existing functionality (a minor version or a patch).
Create a major version
To create a major version:
- On the Manage Apps screen, select a version of the app to update.
- On the app details pane menu, click Create new version. Restriction: This option is disabled when there is another Draft version for the same parent app.
- On the Version details section, enter a name for the new version.
-
On Type, select the Major Version.
The content of this field is auto-completed with the value of the version to update, but you can edit it.
- Optionally, add a short summary and a description of the new version.
- Fill in the rest of the fields to document the list of components, Industry, Suite, Business Impact, Documentation URL, Cost, etc. of the new version.Tip: Use a link that is accessible to the right audiences, making sure it has the appropriate permissions to view it.
- Click Save and continue. Proceed to the Items and Snapshots tabs to complete the new version
- The new version is added in the Draft state. You can now open it for editing on the Build Apps screen.
Create a minor version
To create a minor version, complete the steps on Create a major version:
To fix existing functionality, create a minor version to a released major version. The process to create a minor version is much like the one to create a new major version.
Once a new minor version is added to the app, open the Draft minor version for editing on the Build Apps screen, just as you would for a new major version.
