Global Text Analytics Settings

Reporting > Text Processing > Global Text Analytics Settings > Settings

The Settings screen determines whether Action Intelligence powered by Medallia AI is enabled for a company, and how Medallia Text Analytics processes supported languages. For more information about configuring Action Intelligence, see Action Intelligence. For more information about configuring Text Analytics, see Implement Text Analytics.

Marking Surveys Enabled
When on, feedback records are marked to be processed by Action Intelligence.

This property is also required for machine-translation of comments. For more information, see Translating comments.

Automatic Processing Enabled
When on, Action Intelligence processes marked feedback responses.
Important: Both the Automatic Tagging Enabled Topic & Theme Tagging setting and the Automatic Processing Enabled Global Text Analytics setting must be enabled for Text Analytics to process any data.
Warning: Disabling either Automatic Processing or Automatic Tagging causes topic alerts not to be triggered, even when a survey meets all alert conditions.
Language Processing
For each language, select one of the following values to determine how Text Analytics processes that language. Medallia Experience Cloud can process topics, rules, and comments for the native languages listed in Text Analytics supported languages.
Important: If you are you planning to build topics in a language other than English, verify that you or someone working on the project speaks the language, can build topics in it, and has completed Text Analytics training.
  • Do not processText Analytics does not process the language.
  • Native — You can build topics in this language. After selecting this option and clicking Save, the Use Medallia AI Sentiment Model property becomes available (for languages that have sentiment processing available). If your company uses Text Analytics, turn on that property to enable the sentiment model for that language as part of Text Analytics processing. For more information, see Configuring sentiment. Native processing for a language affects all programs using that language.

After enabling Native processing, you must wait until comments from these languages have been processed before you can build topics in those languages. After you finish the entire initial setup process, initiate comment processing to start that process as described in Text Analytics processing and initialization. When processing has completed, validate that you can select the languages on the Reporting > Text Processing > Topics Sets screen.

  • TranslationMedallia Text Analytics uses a third-party service to translate this data into a target language. This option is available only for languages enabled for translation on the Reporting > Text Processing > Comment Translations screen. For more information, see Translating comments.
Note: If you change a language's processing from Translation to Native, you must then reprocess historical records to apply native topic rules to native comments, and to remove English topic rule taggings from translated comments. For more information about reprocessing options, see Text Analytics processing and initialization.
