Share Customer Data

After defining destinations for your customer data, you are ready to share that data.

You can:

  • share customer data manually,
  • schedule the sharing of customer data, or
  • download the data locally (in Data Export v8 format).
Note: The Download destination for a Space is configured by default and available out-of-the-box.

For more information about configuring audience destinations, see Configure an Audience Destination.

Important: There is no implicit connection between an audience and an audience destination.

You may, in fact, have multiple connections configured for the same remote destination, to provide storage for different types of query results.

For this reason, you must always ensure that you share customer data to the correct destination.

To share customer data manually

When you share customer data manually, you are sharing the last processed audience results. MXO does not reprocess the query before sharing customer data manually.

  1. On the Dynamic Audiences page, click Share or Download for the Audience you want to share.
    TB - share audience
  2. In the Configure Destinations panel, locate the destination with which you want to share Customer data and click Share Audience.TB - AS share iconTransferred files are named '[queryname]_[datetime]'.

To schedule the sharing of customer data

When you schedule the sharing of customer data, MXO reprocesses the query at the scheduled time before sharing the resulting customer data.

  1. On the Dynamic Audiences page, click Share or Download for the Audience you want to share.
  2. In the Configure Destinations panel, locate the destination with which you want to schedule the sharing of Customer data, and switch scheduling On.
  3. Provide the following details:
    FieldDescription
FrequencyThe frequency with which you want to share an Audience. Choose either Daily or Weekly.
    On

Day on which to share an Audience.

Note: Applies only if you want to share an Audience on a Weekly basis.
TimeTime at which to share an Audience.
    Time ZoneThe required time zone.
Additional ConfigAny additional configuration you want to add to the resulting data.
  4. Click Save.

To download customer data locally

How up to date is the customer data I'm sharing?

The age of the customer data you share depends on whether you are sharing that data manually or on a scheduled basis.

When you share customer data manually, you are sharing the last processed audience results. MXO does not re-process the query before sharing customer data.

When you schedule the sharing of customer data, MXO reprocesses the query at the scheduled time before sharing the resulting customer data.

What happens if my customer data fails to share?

Sometimes, the sharing of customer data may fail. This may happen if:

  • the query fails to process
  • MXO is unable to send the customer data to the configured destination.

Query fails to process

When this happens, MXO displays a Not processed (for scheduled shares) or Not sent (for both manual and scheduled shares) status in the share History panel and a Retry button is available next to the relevant audience share.

TB - AS retry icon

Simply click the Retry button to try reprocessing the query or resending the audience data to the configured destination.

When you click the Retry button, a new entry appears in the list with a status of Processing. If the query processing or sending of audience data fails, again, you can hit Retry for the new entry at the top of the list. By creating a new entry in the History panel, on each occasion, you maintain a complete list of each time MXO reprocesses a query or shares audience data.

MXO is unable to send the customer data to the configured destination

This may happen if there is problem with the configuration of an Audience Destination. If this occurs, the status for an Audience Destination changes to Error and MXO displays an error message to help with troubleshooting.

TB - Audience Dest Error

You may see one of the following error messages:

  • SAS Token expired. Please enter a new, valid, token. (Azure Blob destinations only)
  • Please enter a valid base64 encoded Storage key. (Azure Blob destinations only)
  • Connection failed. Please ensure the configuration of your connection is correct and try again. (All destinations)

To test the configuration of an Audience Destination

You can test the configuration of an Audience Destination after troubleshooting any connection errors, using the Test Connection functionality.

  1. In MXO, choose Analyze.
  2. Select Audience Destinations.
  3. Click Test Connection for the relevant Audience Destination.TB - Audience Dest Test
    • If the connection is now working, the status updates to No Issues.
    • If there are still issues with the connection, the status remains as Error and you can continue troubleshooting.
