Create and manage priority rules

Learn how to manage MXO's out-of-the-box priority rules and create your own custom ones.

Edit a priority rule

You may want to edit one of the out-of-the-box priority rules, for example, to give marketing priority a higher weighting when using Interest and Marketing priority as your arbitration method. To edit a priority rule, follow these steps:

  1. In MXO, go to Orchestrate > Priority Rules.

  2. Click the priority rule you want to open for editing.

  3. Edit the priority rule as required.

  4. Click Save to complete the editing process.

View priority rule dependencies

To see a list of the dependencies associated with a priority rule, follow these steps:

  1. In MXO, go to Orchestrate > Priority Rules.

  2. Find the desired priority rule in the list and click dependencies icon Dependencies.

  3. In the modal window that appears, you can see the list of dependencies for that priority rule. You may click any dependency to open it in a new window and edit or remove it. Then, click Refresh to reload the dependencies list.

  4. Click Ok in the modal window to close it.

Delete a priority rule

You may want to delete an out-of-the-box priority rule, for example, to simplify the arbitration methods available to users or remove any methods your organization is unlikely to use. To delete a priority rule, follow these steps:

  1. In MXO, go to Orchestrate > Priority rules.

  2. Find the desired priority rule in the list and click delete icon Delete.

  3. If the priority rule is associated with one or more entities, the modal window that appears will show the dependencies list and block the deletion process. Access each dependency and remove the association before deleting the priority rule. Then, click Refresh to reload the dependencies list and ensure you have removed them all.

  4. Click Delete to complete the deletion process.

Create a custom priority rule

You may want to create custom priority rules to cover use cases not addressed by the out-of-the-box rules, already provided. To create a custom priority rule, follow these steps:

  1. In MXO, go to Orchestrate > Priority Rules.

  2. Click + Create.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Begin typing your new priority rule directly into the editor and MXO automatically suggests data items you may be looking for. Select the correct item from the list and carry on typing.

    • Select Open Data Item Picker and choose the data items to include in your priority rule.

  4. Click Save to complete the creation process.
