Feeds

Feeds receive or retrieve data from the external company source, and then pass the data to a designated processor to add the records to the database. Sometimes the pass the data to a preprocessor which transforms the data into a format the processor can interpret.

Feeds include:

  • FTP Feeds and SFTP Feeds receive files from the company using file transfer protocol (FTP).

  • Email Feeds receive data in emails sent to Medallia. The data can be in the body, included as an attachment, or both.

  • Feed Pulls retrieve the data from company's server using FTP.

  • Web Feeds use HTTP to retrieve the file from a company's server.

External systems feed data to Medallia Experience Cloud via email, ftp pull (feed pull), ftp and sftp, and http post (web feed) importers

Important: Medallia strongly recommends companies use an FTP/SFTP feed to transfer files to Medallia Experience Cloud, or consider the Web Feed API as an alternative. Both feeds provide a fast, secure method that ensure privacy and puts the data under the control of the company until it is imported into Experience Cloud. Consider the Feed Pull only when the other options are not available.
Warning: For Feed pull configurations be aware that Medallia is changing the server host from ftp1.medallia.com to new hosts. All new requests for Feed Pull use the new hosts, and all existing installations will be moved to the new host by early 2018. See Medallia feed servers and filestash for more information.
