Optimizely

The Optimizely data connector identifies pages with Optimizely variations and pulls them into DXA.

Note: This data connector doesn't work retroactively as it requires DXA to collect and aggregate the variations each time the script is fired.

Enabling the Optimizely data connector

  1. On the navigation bar, go to Connect > Data Connectors > Configure Data Connectors > Split Testing > Optimizely.Optimizely data connector

  2. Under Optimizely, select Optimizely Enabled.

    The Type dropdown menu appears.

  3. In the Type dropdown, select the Optimizely version you're using.

  4. Click Save.

Decibel will now begin to collect Optimizely variations on pages where both Optimizely and Decibel are present.

Using Optimizely variations

Upon collecting Optimizely variations, you can begin to use these by creating segments based on them.

When adding filters to a segment, go to Integrations > Optimizely variation and use the Please select ... text box to search for a variation.

Note: To add filters to a segment, see Segment Filters.

Note:

You can then use the segment to filter sessions, heatmaps, forms, and other DXA features based on visitors who have viewed that particular variation.

Using Optimizely variations in heatmaps

When using heatmaps, you can easily segment by a variation to see how it was performing. Simply create a segment that contains an Optimizely variation and then browse to the page that contains that variation in heatmaps. Then click the Segment dropdown menu and select the segment that contains the variation before clicking Apply changes. You will then see the page change to the layout of the variation, while also filtering by users who saw this variation.Using segments in heatmaps
