Unit types

Unit types classify units and define their data fields and categories. They are used for filters, ranking, and benchmarks in reports.

A Unit type classifies a unit, such as by identifying it as a hotel, call center agent, cruise ship crew rotation, flight route, or enterprise account. The type defines the data fields and unit group categories that apply to Units of the type. Unit types are used for filters, ranking, and benchmarks in reports.

Administrators create multiple types for a company using a pre-defined list of Data fields. Admin tools also include automated report generation, and the ability to conduct detailed analyses.

All Unit types must be associated with a single Unit class, which is a top-level categorization of Unit types, or a group of Unit types, that determines what Data fields to display. The Unit classes are:

  • Account
  • Digital channel
  • Individual
  • Location
  • Product
  • Recurring event
  • Other

Unit classes enable units to:

  • Have report filters for specific unit types.
  • Assign data access to users.
  • Provide for splits in reports.
  • Rank all units within a type.
  • Benchmark against a particular type.
  • Determine pricing for units.
Note: Categories that are not assigned Unit types will not appear on the Units screen.

To use and access Unit types, see Access Organization features.
