Cookie confirmation
Cookie confirmation is a deprecated method of cookie acknowledgement and consent. It has been replaced by cookie banners. Medallia recommends switching to the cookie banner method for best performance.
Cookie confirmation is a special group that is coded to be displayed when the all of these criteria are met:
-
The survey taker's IP address is in the European Union (EU).
-
The survey taker has not taken a Medallia Experience Cloud survey in the last year (as determined by the presence of a Experience Cloud consent cookie for the company).
Surveys automatically store several cookies on a survey taker's browser. However, EU regulations require websites to obtain permission from visitors before planting cookies. When a Cookie confirmation appears on a page, the Survey engine does not place the cookies until the next page. As such, this element must appear in the first page of the survey.
Within the Cookie confirmation group, include these content elements:
-
Text — Explain that the survey requires cookies. Optionally, include a link to Medallia cookie policy described in Cookie information. For example, your Cookie confirmation element might include this message:
By continuing past this page, you agree to the use of cookies. Please close this page if you do not agree to the use of cookies. Find out more about how we use cookies and how you can change your settings to control cookies here.
-
Incorrect recipient — Provide an option to terminate the survey if the respondent does not want to grant permission. In this case, the survey should move directly to an End page that has a Display rule of Invitation error = Yes (
m__invitation_error=1), and which contains a Text element that thanks the survey taker and includes a farewell message.
