Custom Rival lists in previous report versions
When using legacy reports, Custom Rival management has certain limitations when creating Custom Rival lists and adding rivals to them. Additionally, it does not leverage Google Places API which restricts the possibility of freely adding any rival listed in Google.
Create and manage custom rival list
To create a custom rival list:
-
Select the report tab that allows you to manage your Rival lists — often called Social Rivals or Competitor Management.
-
Click on the Rival Lists or Competitor Lists subtab and select a property.
-
Click Create a New List.
-
Give the list a name.
-
Click the subtab All Potential Rivals.
-
Click the Add button to add rival properties to the list. For Rivals not listed under All Potential Rivals, use the search to add them to the list. If the search does not return the rival properties you are looking for, see Add new Rivals to custom list below.
Add new Rivals to custom rival lists
For companies in the hospitality (hotels only) industry:
Contact Medallia Support requesting STR to add this rival to their database. The entry takes a few days to be added into Medallia Experience Cloud.
For companies in any other industry:
Contact Medallia Support requesting the Social Data operations team to add the rivals for you. Make the subject of this ticket New Social Rivals and attach a spreadsheet with the following columns including information for each missing rival:
-
Location name.
-
Location brand name.
-
Location address.
-
Location city.
-
Location state (for U.S. and Canada only).
-

This example shows a spreadsheet that contains the information detailed previously for the location called Serenity Hotel, for the Serenity brand.
