Notices
Changes that affect functionality.
Query API field deprecated
programRecordSchemas field in the Query API is deprecated and will be removed in a future release. This field is not compatible with Enhanced Experience Programs (EP 2.0) and can return outdated program schema information. API consumers should migrate to the programs field, which provides reliable, up-to-date program data. The deprecation is surfaced through GraphQL schema introspection, so it is visible in API explorers and clients. For information, see Transition from programRecordSchemas to programs.Sign-in by username & password is blocked by default
Beginning with the 2026 H1 release, all new accounts are blocked from using the login form (username & password) to sign in; existing accounts are not restricted. This restriction can be turned-off for an account manually by an administrator, or automatically via import specification or API option.
After January 2027, use of the login form — even for existing accounts — will require multi-factor authentication (MFA). Clients wishing to opt out of the MFA enforcement must engage their Medallia Sales contact to execute an "Insecure User Access" addendum to your software agreement. Please do so before January 2027 to ensure no impact on your program.
Additionally and beginning with this release, all new and existing accounts with a role that includes the Do Anything permission require either single sign-on (SSO) or MFA.
Abnormal email delivery
Updated 30 July, 2026.
Email feed deprecation
JQuery support in Surveys deprecation
$(dom-selector).action() may not function correctly and could cause custom HTML to render improperly. jQuery is not available in instances not already using it. Release highlights
New or improved features
Admin Suite
Topic Rules search input now uses an auto-suggest dropdown populated from existing rule keywords so admins can seamlessly locate rules to edit without the frustration of the system falsely showing "no results found" mid-keystroke.
The proposal accept action in Smart Topic Builder now disables when the topic limit is reached to prevent failed acceptance attempts.
The Topic Hierarchy screen now disables the New Topic, Add subtopic, and Duplicate actions when the topic limit is reached to prevent failed topic-creation attempts.
The Standard Rules Editor now disables Add Word Group button when the word group count reaches the configured maximum limit, to block creation of new word groups.
Standard topic rules now block Save when the rule block count exceeds the configured limit, so users do not attempt saves that the system would fail.
The Topic Discovery screen in Smart Topic Builder now shows the failure error message in the UI when an AI-assisted Topic Discovery run fails.
Admin Suite now has a centralized Exports area in the left navigation where admins can view, track, and download exports — including Ad Hoc, Units, Translations, and Activity Log. A single table replaces the previous per-section modals, showing export status (in progress, ready to download, or failed) at a glance.
Conversations
Conversations settings now include a Short URL section where admins view the survey link expiration window and customize the expiration notice text shown to respondents. Admins can also toggle whether the expiration date and notice text are automatically added to Statement messages containing a short survey link, so link expiration is communicated without editing each message individually.
There is now a limit of 200 Condition Rules per instance.
Emails
A new control has been added to the Company Settings page in Classic Setup to allow for global control over the "email opened" tracking pixel. By default, the tracking pixel is disabled for new Medallia clients and enabled for existing Medallia clients. Your Medallia administrator and/or Medallia Support may toggle the setting if desired.
Feedback
The Activity Log now provides more detailed visibility into case form updates, capturing the specific fields and values that were added, changed, or removed.
Multiple updates made in a single save are neatly grouped under a single “Case Updated” activity, with previous and new values clearly surfaced for easy comparison. This enhanced visibility helps teams quickly understand case history, improve audibility, operational transparency, and get a clearer view of what changed at a glance.
Note: Case form updates are currently not included in thea_log_notesexport.The underlying AI model that powers Smart Response was upgraded to help you craft more relevant responses to your customers. This is an infrastructure upgrade, so there are no changes to existing workflows, and no action is required from you. You may notice improved response-generation quality.
Additionally, Smart Response now supports Italian, Korean, Japanese, and Portuguese.
Note: These Smart Response updates are scheduled to automatically be rolled out to all customers by the end of October 2026.
Insights Suite
New role permission for allowing users to view full Thinking Process in Insights Assistant. Roles without this permission see a simplified Thinking Process instead.
Insights Assistant user can now copy answers to clipboard with one click.
:
Admins can now manage individual Insights Assistant safety guardrails in Admin Suite under Admin Home > AI Configuration > Insights Assistant. Use this feature to customize healthcare, sensitive data, language, and bias protections so users can ask valid business questions without hitting unnecessary roadblocks.
Restriction: This feature is not available on Medallia GovCloud. For more information, contact your Medallia representative.:
Insights Assistant now includes survey record links and side panel previews for referenced verbatims, allowing users to validate customer feedback instantly.
Integrations
"Junked" records in Experience Cloud will now be permanently deleted and not recoverable after 30 days. Previously there was no limit.
Enhanced Survey Distribution (Webhook Invitations) Invitation Templates, Rules, and Connections can be configured entirely within Admin Suite to distribute survey invitations to an endpoint for final delivery such as push notification, one-way SMS, or other custom channel.
Important: This feature is available upon request. Ask your Medallia expert to file a Feature activation request with Medallia Support.
Medallia AI
The underlying AI model that powers several of our AI-driven capabilities was upgraded to deliver higher-quality, more accurate results. This is an infrastructure upgrade; there are no changes to workflows, UI, or admin configuration, and no action required from you. You may notice improved accuracy and relevance in AI-generated outputs from the following features:
- Smart Topic Builder — more accurate AI-generated classification rules and topic auditing, improving discovery and audit precision over the previous model
- Themes — more accurate, semantically precise auto-generated theme titles, including improved consistency across English and non-English languages
- Intelligent Summaries for Text Analytics (ISTA) — maintained or improved summarization quality, including multilingual support (English, German, French, Spanish)
- Smart Response — maintained or improved response-generation quality
Medallia Mobile
Improved UI for greater accessibility on Medallia Mobile application
Packages
The Best Practice Apps installer has the following improvements:
- Fixed compatibility issue to reduce dashboard module installation failures.
- Changed rules powering smart exclusions to make behavior consistent across apps and change sets.
- Added a search bar to Mappings in Custom Install
- Fixed the entity list on the app conflict resolution page not displaying all entities. Entities at the bottom of the list and in the selection summary now appear without resizing the browser window.
- Added support for time periods and calculations in mappings of custom installation
- Added the ability to view the contents of an open app before installing it. Administrators use this to review the entities and components included in an app and decide whether to install it.
- Updated the change set screens so they look and work more like App Installation, making it easier to review, submit, and deploy change sets.
- Corrected wording in App Installation, including the success message after an app is installed and the button shown when uninstalling an app.
Reporting
TX Profiles Segment Insights introduces two new concepts:
- The ability for admins to create and assign global profile segments, and
- For users to apply those global profile segments as filters and A-fields in reporting. Global segments are admin-owned and assigned at the role level, which means they are created and applied to users in bulk. Any global segment(s) a user has access to through their role can be applied on the TX Profiles Quick Access page to filter the Contact List, as well as anywhere the control panel filter is available within Reporting.
Root Cause Assist (RCA) now supports native and translated reporting data in Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese. When users set their reporting application language to one of these languages, RCA automatically generates analysis in that selected language to give international teams direct insight into customer feedback.
Security
Single Sign-On (SAML)
- Inbound SSO configuration now defaults to RSA-with-SHA-256 when the signature algorithm field is not explicitly configured on the Identity Provider option. Previously, an unset value silently fell back to RSA-with-SHA-1. Explicit configuration values are unchanged. Companies that relied on the previous SHA-1 default should confirm their Identity Provider accepts SHA-256, or set the algorithm explicitly on the configuration.
- The Inbound SSO API definition was corrected to expose the
x-publishableattribute consistently. Companies consuming the public API definition to build integrations will now see the accurate publishable flag.
Audit configuration UI
- The Audit log configuration screen is now available in the classic Setup. Administrators can configure audit logging without switching to Admin Suite.
Data Protection
- Field-level personally identifying information (PII) encryption is now supported on Unit Data Fields and Unit Group Data Fields. Administrators can enable encryption on these field types directly from the admin UI, using the same workflow as the existing encrypted field types.
Security Fixes
- Fixed a defect on the OAuth token revocation endpoint
/oauth/{tenant}/revokesuch that the endpoint no longer returns HTTP 500, and revoked tokens are properly invalidated on subsequent requests.
Audit Framework
- The Audit Query API has been extended with:
- Category-exclusion filters (for example, return all events where category is not Changelog).
- OR logic between the category and username filters (previously AND-only, which returned empty results in Activity Logs scenarios).
- Cursor-based pagination on the asynchronous
/resultendpoint.
- Sensitive information is no longer returned in API responses nor written to application logs.
Survey Authentication service is now available for Medallia GovCloud.
Speech
Speech now supports Cantonese, Russian, and Swiss German transcriptions powered by Engine 2 (Amazon Transcribe) to provide expanded access to international markets. For assistance with updating your transcription configurations, contact your Medallia expert.
The Speech pipeline now has minimum and maximum processing timeout safeguards alongside strict filename validation. These updates ensure reliable file processing and prevent invalid records from entering your pipeline. The new timeouts are:
- Engine 1 (Voci) — minimum duration of 2 seconds, maximum duration of 21,600 seconds (6 hours)
- Engine 2 (Amazon Transcribe) — minimum duration of 2 seconds, maximum duration of 14,400 seconds (4 hours)
If a file falls outside these duration limits, the system stops processing the record and displays an error message under event tickets.
Restriction: Speech filenames must now contain alphanumeric characters only and remain under 512 characters in length. Files containing special symbols or exceeding the length limit will not process.
Surveys
These UI elements are now translatable; each defaults to English:
- TEXTAREA_CHARACTER_COUNT — #{CURRENT_COUNT} out of #{MAX_COUNT} Characters typed
- MATRIX_SCROLL_LEFT — Scroll Left
- MATRIX_SCROLL_RIGHT — Scroll Right
- PROGRESS_BAR_LABEL — Survey completion indicator
In the Survey Editor, the Distribution & Audience step now shows the Unit Field without the needing to click "Show advanced settings".
Surveys have the following improvements:
- Improved semantic correctness, provide better screen reader announcements and strengthen the association between form fields and their validation status. However, they may introduce potential customization-breaking changes for customers using custom CSS/JS on specific components.
- Matrix question container markup update: The heading wrapper in Matrix rendering was changed from legend to div to align with semantically correct structure. Any customization targeting the previous legend tag may no longer apply as expected.
- Ranking question hidden text structure update: The
visuallyHiddenclass used for hidden help/caption text was moved from inner span elements to their parent container to improve screen reader announcements. Custom code targeting those specific inner span elements by class name may require adjustment. - Admins can now paste text into the Multiple Fields Selector text override instead of manually typing entries
- Resolved an issue where adding a multi-valued field to an existing multi-valued grid question would incorrectly change the grid to be single-valued
Text Analytics
Topic Builder has the following new management and cleanup tools to help admins maintain cleaner, more efficient Word Groups and stay within limits, and to improve visibility and streamline your workflow:
- Usage Transparency: You can now view a list of all published or unpublished Topics that utilize a specific Word Group, allowing you to easily identify where it’s being used before making changes.
- Easy Identification: New filtering capabilities allow you to quickly surface Unused Word Groups (those not associated with any rules in a published Topic) helping you focus your cleanup efforts where they're needed most.
- Bulk Cleanup: Admins can now select and delete multiple Word Groups in a single action, making it faster to remove unused ones.
Smart Topic Builder now lets users run AI audits on topic segments, which is critical for quickly evaluating the program performance of multi-signal, speech, and contact center data.
Themes with GenAI's underlying embedding model and LLM for titling have been upgraded to produce more accurate, specific, and consistent results, including:
- Higher accuracy: Theme clustering has been refined to reduce mislabeled or low-quality themes, raising the overall accuracy of generated themes.
- Improved granularity: Themes are now more distinct and specific, reducing cases where unrelated feedback was grouped into overly broad themes.
- More representative titles: Theme titles more accurately reflect the content of the feedback they summarize.
- Greater stability over time: Recurring updates to existing themes now produce more consistent results, with less fluctuation as new data comes in.
When processing feedback, you can now control data accuracy by prioritizing specified language settings over automatic detection. The system uses
survey_languageto determine the language for all comments and responses in a record. If no language is specified, it automatically detects and stores the language ina_detected_language. If no language is set and detection fails, the record is marked as tagging_failed and no tags are generated. Note: Historical records remain unchanged until you manually run historical processing.Added Text Analytics processing quotas. This framework prevents unbounded historical processing runs, safeguards critical workloads, and provides administrators with pre-execution cost visibility.
Resolved issues
Admin Suite
Fixed alignment issue between rule-row checkboxes and block items in the Standard Rules editor within Topic Builder.
Ask Now
Ask Now translation exports now exclude non-Ask Now reporting rows (for example, In Report, Short Form, Description, and Employee Report), so downloaded XLS files better match Ask Now contexts. This produces cleaner, more relevant files, reducing noise for translators and project teams and helping admins spend less time triaging irrelevant content.
Packages
Fixed the app installer to eliminate some failure conditions.
Reporting
In the Scores Over Time module, the delta value is now hidden when a metric does not meet the minimum sample size threshold, preventing users from calculating concealed metrics.
Dashboard Ranking module's Display Absolute Ranking configuration now shows absolute ranking relative to all other applied filters, rather than ignoring all other applied filters.
Webview tabs in Medallia Mobile 3 now respect the configured navigation theme instead of always rendering with the dark color scheme.
Focus Area metric mapping now render consistently by using the original aggregate table metric index as the primary identifier.
The Export menu now appears only in the Root Cause Assist side panel, so it no longer shows in other side panels such as Accessibility Settings.
In Sample Size mode, the Big Number module now hides the Subscriptions and Action Plans actions, since neither can be evaluated without the metric and calculation that this mode does not use.
In the Table and Dial views of reports, all records are correctly masked when below the minimum sample size.
PowerPoint report titles that exceed the maximum character length are now automatically adjusted to fit.
Removed benchmark from consideration in the Dashboard Ranking module table view query, since it is only relevant to the bar chart view query.
Number formatting for Ranker Snapshot chart values and Y-axis tick labels now consistently use the
noOfDecimalsprecision. The Delta column in the Segment Distribution Over Time widget is now visible when both the Total and Benchmark columns are visible.
The Segment Distribution Over Time report now displays the correct number of responses instead of always showing 100.
The "Display Data Points on Charts" setting in Scores Snapshot now works correctly for modules using segments.
Scores Snapshot PDF exports no longer truncate table columns when there are more that 16 sub elements, and instead, they match what is shown on screen.
The default weights used in the Focus Area module's multiple linear regression calculation, used when weights are not explicitly configured, have been corrected and are now as described in the Medallia documentation.
The Segment Distribution Over Time export to Excel now shows the correct delta value for the # of Records row, matching what's displayed in the module.
The Public Query API now enforces role-based custom calculation permissions consistently across all aggregate nodes — aggregateRank and aggregateRankList previously returned data for calculations that were not assigned to the requesting role. Error messages for unavailable calculations are also clearer and consistent across every node, so queries that stop returning data after this release simply need the calculation assigned to the API client's role.
The Activity by User chart export now renders successfully for companies that contain an active account with a missing username. Such accounts are excluded from the report.
Journey View is no longer available as a module in Enhanced Anonymity dashboards, preventing an error that occurred due to unsupported filter restrictions.
Logos uploaded through PDF Export Settings now stay available for as long as the setting is in place, so they keep appearing in PDF exports and push reports without needing to be re-uploaded.
Pivot Table exports to excel now complete correctly for the high cardinality row fields, previously these exports failed with an error.
Column headers in Responses Filter and Invitations Filter exports now drop the "a" and "k" prefixes when the Field Name Format is set to "Export Label (Client Identifier if not set)" and the asynchronous export path is used. Users may need to update their usage of the resulting export file as a result.
Security
Outbound requests made while generating PDF exports now report the application's public host in their headers, so internal host details are no longer included when a report loads external content.
The Athena Studio proxy now enforces an endpoint allowlist, restricting forwarded requests to only the paths used by Reporting features.
Surveys
Survey editing now has better semantic correctness, better screen reader announcements, and strengthened association between form fields and their validation status. Note these improvements might introduce customization-breaking changes for customers using custom CSS/JS on specific components.
- Matrix question container markup update — The heading wrapper in Matrix rendering has changed from
legendtodivto align with semantically correct structure. Any customization targeting the previouslegendtag may no longer render as previously expected. - Ranking question hidden text structure update — The visuallyHidden class used for hidden help/caption text was moved from inner
spanelements to their parent container to improve screen reader announcements. Custom code targeting those specific innerspanelements by class name may require adjustment.
- Matrix question container markup update — The heading wrapper in Matrix rendering has changed from
Adding a multi-valued field to an existing multi-valued grid question no longer incorrectly changes the grid to be single-valued.
QuickStart now works on surveys that have Hidden Input fields before the first question on the first page of the survey. Clients with surveys that have custom JavaScript code in HTML blocks are encouraged to test their surveys in sandboxes during the deployment testing period.
Text Analytics
Comment Stream exports in Text Analytics profiles now complete successfully for contacts data views.
Page loads for accounts with large Text Analytics topic pools are now significantly faster for accounts with many dashboards and Text Analytics modules.
