Ranker reports

Important: This module is superseded by the Dashboard Ranking module, which is part of Medallia Alchemy Experience Reporting. Do not create new Ranker reports in Setup. Medallia recommends that you migrate any existing Ranker standard reports to the new Dashboard Ranking module, which you can configure in Admin Suite.

A Ranker report ranks the performance of units a company's organizational structure, or of any field in Experience Cloud. Use the Question Group dropdown to select the list of questions used to rank units. For example, The image below shows a ranking of store Units in descending order by their average Timely assistance score. This question is part of the Store Driver question group. As seen in the tabs above the report, the user can also rank by other levels of the organizational hierarchy (District, Region, Unit Type, and Associate ID) by clicking those tabs. For configuration information, see Configuring Ranker reports.

If you select a question group in the Question Group dropdown, the report displays a column for each question in that group, such as seen in the image above.

If you select a single question in the Question Group dropdown, the report displays a column for each interval of time specified by the TimeGrouping property of the Timeperiod you selected. For example, if you select a Timeperiod of Past 12 Months, and the TimeGrouping property for that Timeperiod is Month, the report displays a column for each month in the past 12 months. For more information about Timeperiods and the TimeGrouping property, see Timeperiods.

Fields available for Ranker

For each Ranker report you select fields that appear as subtabs in report navigation. For example, you might have subtabs for different levels of the organization (such as Unit, District, and Region). You can select the following field types:

  • Units
  • Unit groups, except those with either of the following property settings on the Company > Units > Groups Admin screen:
    •  HideFromOptionBox selected
    •  Parent set to None
Note: Be mindful about the number of units in the unit groups you add. Unit groups with large numbers of units can slow the load time and performance of the report.
  • E-fields with an alternative set
  • Q-fields with an alternative set
  • K-fields that are available to SLUG
Note: If you create a new K-field that you want to add to an existing Ranker report, if its SlugAvailability is set to Backfill Required you must run a backfill of data before that field will appear in the report. For more information, see Backfill.
  • R-fields
Note: R-fields take substantially more time to render in reports than other field types because R-fields recalculate every time a report is loaded. If you use a faster field type (such as Q-fields or K-fields), in the Question Group dropdown, Ranker reports load faster. For more information about R-fields, see R-fields.

Click through to the Satisfaction table

By default, Experience Cloud allows users to click a row in a Ranker report to drill down to more detail about that row in a Satisfaction Table report. For example, if a user clicks the Atlanta row as shown in the following image...

Click a row to drill down to more detail in another report.

... Experience Cloud saves information about that row as a filter, and opens opens the Satisfaction Table report with that filter active, as seen in the following image. If the user navigates away from the Satisfaction Table report to other reports, the filter remains active on those reports.

Warning: If you are displaying custom reports in a Ranker report, click-through functionality is not enabled for those reports by default. For information about enabling click-through functionality from custom reports in Ranker reports, see Configuring Ranker reports.

Additionally, if you make a field invisible (on the Reporting > Report Helpers > Custom Filters > Excluded Filters scren), click-through functionality will not be available on Ranker subtabs based on that field.

Sample size in Ranker reports

When ranking by unit, only active units are shown in the report. When ranking by unit group, active and inactive units are shown. This can result in a smaller sample size when ranking by unit.

For example, with a hierarchy of Country > Region > District > Store, a Ranker report filtered for The Germany unit group has a sample size of 204,000. An exported file for the same Ranker report filtered for a specific store shows a sample size of 201,000, because 3,000 inactive units were not included. To see the inactive units, export the unit group report as a spreadsheet (to ensure that inactive units are in the exported data), and create a pivot table that allows you to filter by unit.
