Weighting screen
Weighting schemes are the top level structures for weighting. You can define as many weighting schemes as your program needs, and your schemes can be applied to the same survey data. For example, an investment firm running several 401k plans might want to view scores weighted by the number of participants in each 401k plan and by the amount of money managed in each plan.
If you need to apply the same weighting distribution measure across several survey programs, create one weighting scheme that incorporates the survey program field as one of the weighting scheme segments. This eliminates the need to have different calculations per survey program, which is especially important for users with cross-program roles.
For detailed information about how Medallia Experience Cloud weights data, see Weighting.
Properties
- Weighting Scheme Identifier
-
A unique identifier, used to identify the weighting scheme in Auto-Importer and in relevant weighting A-field identifiers. Once set this cannot be changed.
- Weighting Scheme Name
-
The name of weighting scheme, used when setting up calculations and R-fields.
- Priority
-
Determines the order of the weighting scheme in the list. This is not used outside of the Weighting screen.
- Weighting Timeperiod
-
Weights are set by segment for a specific period of time, with the segment weight distributed across all surveys within that segment and time period. Select DAY, WEEK, QUARTER, YEAR, or FOREVER.
- Survey Condition
-
The weighting scheme is applied only to surveys matching the condition.
- Unit field
-
If weights are being set (at least in part) on the basis of the organizational hierarchy, the Unit field parameter determines which unit field is used to match records to the hierarchy.
- Reporting Date
-
The time field used to determine whether a survey is in the time period you selected for the Weighting Timeperiod property. Ensure that the field you select matches the reporting Date Field you select on the Time Fields screen. If these do not match you might see discrepancies in weights over the weighting time period. A common cause of a mismatch is when a K-field is used to handle multiple timezones.
- Do not weight for single-unit calculations
-
When checked, the weighting scheme is not applied when calculation is done on a single unit. For example, unit-level Ranker reports will not show weighted data when this property is checked.
- Segment Fields
-
You can configure weighting schemes to use one or more fields for segmentation. If you select more than one field, Experience Cloud uses values from the intersection of the fields you select. If a field is part of a weighting scheme it is always used to match weights to surveys. In this case, Null is considered a value for matching. You can select fields of the following types:
- Unit
- Unit Group
- Enumerated (A-fields, E-fields, Q-fields, and K-fields)
- Auto-Indexed (A-fields, E-fields, Q-fields, and K-fields)
- ActivateWeightingScheme
-
Turn on the Confirm property and then click ActivateWeightingScheme to activate the scheme. You must activate a scheme before it can be used. After you activate a scheme, it is locked and can be modified in limited ways. If you need to fundamentally alter a weighting scheme, you must create an entirely new weighting scheme, and then substitute it for the existing weighting scheme in calculations and R-fields that use the scheme.
