Gamification
Points, ranks, and badges are rewards that encourage engagement.
Gamification motivates people by rewarding users with points for community engagement, such as posting, commenting, and voting. Active users can collect badges which indicate a specific level of participation, and they may also award points. Accumulated points ranks serve as intrinsic rewards, encouraging users to engage by earning points and aspiring to top the leaderboard, without conferring special privileges.
You can see an individual user's community rank and badges by viewing their profile. In this example, Katherine Johnson has a score of 546 points, an overall ranking of 4, and has been awarded three badges.
You can see the leaders for the community or a challenge on the Leaderboard.
Administrators can customize how scores and badges are awarded, and they can remove and restore removed points from users.
If gamification is not appropriate for your community, you can Disable Gamification entirely.
