Rival lists

Rival lists, or Competitor lists, include different lists that compare a unit or brand against a one or more rivals. Rivals, or Competitors, are units (properties/locations) or brands that share the same or similar industry and offer a similar product or service that you want to compare with.

Rival lists available, including STR Competitors (STR Rival list), Nearby Rivals (Nearby Rival list), and New competitors (Custom Rival list).

Rival lists can be:
  • STR lists (for hospitality companies only) — These lists are created at the corporate level. You cannot edit or delete an STR Rival list. For more information, see STR Rival lists.

  • Nearby Rival lists — These lists are based on geographic proximity. You cannot edit or delete a Nearby Rivals list. For more information, see Nearby Rivals lists.

  • Custom Rival lists — These lists can include any location found in Google. You can edit and delete these lists freely. For more information, see Custom Rival lists.

Restriction: Social Networking sources cannot be used in Rival lists as they require authorizing the URL.

Add Rival lists to a report

To add a Competitor List module in Admin Suite Reports:
  1. On the Web Navigation screen, create a subtab to contain the Rival lists. For example, you might create a Rival Lists subtab in the Social Media tab. For more information about working with tabs and subtabs, see Navigation.

  2. In the row for the new subtab, click Assign report, Create and assign a new report, and Web dashboard. Your new report opens for editing.

  3. Configure the Settings tab:
    1. Give the report a title, such as Rival report.

    2. Select one or more Programs to filter the data shown in the report.

    3. Select one or more Roles that can see this report.

    4. If you want to allow specific users from other roles to see the report, click Assign specific users to see this module, and add one or more users.

    5. If you want users to be able to print and export the report, select Show print/export. If you want the exported PDF to split on the section header, select Split PDF on Section Header.

    6. Click Save.

  4. Open the Modules tab:
    1. Click Add module, and then search for Competitor List.

    2. Configure the properties in the module, as described in Competitor List.

    3. Click Save, and then click Cancel icon to close the edit panel for that module.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Publish the modules, report, subtab, and tab.
