Segments
Segments help you to better understand visitor experiences on a property by allowing you to explore sessions with specific visitor types, such as repeat visitors and visitors with poor DXS.
Segments overview
Advanced segmentation gets you up close and personal with your audience. It allows you to cut and dice to examine the user data for the exact reason you want to.
For example, you could create a segment for all of your repeat visitors - those visitors who are coming back to your site for the second (or third or fourth...) time. Or you could create a segment for visitors who have come to your website through a Google search.
Once you've identified a useful segment, you can use heatmaps to track exactly how visitors perform in that segment. You can also compare how the segment's performance compares with others or your audience as a whole. That data can be used to prioritize the audiences that perform well, optimize for members of different groups, and tailor your website to extract the most value that you can.
Segments can be layered with as many filters as you want and are also retrospective, meaning you don't need to wait for new data to see how they are working. They will be applied to all existing data in your account.

Viewing segments by date
You can change the date range of segments listed in Define Segments by clicking the Compare button along the top menu. This will bring a dropdown menu which will allow you to change the date ranges that are being viewed, as well as comparing it to a Previous period by clicking the dropdown.
Once happy, click Apply compare.
Applying filters to segments
Filters allow you to search for segments by name, or you can filter them by type to display only standard segments (only those created in DXA), Adobe Analytics, or Google Analytics.
Ticking Show hidden segments shows any third-party segments that you have decided to hide, while you can also filter by just the segments that you have created by ticking the relevant checkbox.
Once happy, click Apply changes.
