Alerts
Alerts ensure you have your finger on the pulse when it comes to on-site behavioral trends by tracking session and pageview metrics and sending notifications to DXA users by email or Slack.
Creating an alert
On the navigation bar, go to Define > Alerts > + Create.
Enter an alert name.
Under Alert subscribers when:
Select the metric to measure, such as the Digital Experience Score (DXS) or duration.
Select a criteria. For example, if you want to measure session duration, you can choose to trigger an alert when a session is less than or is more than a certain length.
- Define the criteria. For example, if you want to trigger an alert when a session duration is less than 1 minute 30 seconds, enter 1 mins and 30 secs.Note: Milliseconds are measured in fractions of seconds. 500 milliseconds is 0 mins 0.5 secs.
Under across all, define the scope of the alert by selecting one of the following options:
sessions — The alert covers all sessions on the property.
pageviews — The alert covers all sessions on a specific page.
- If you selected pageviews, under of the, select a page.Note:
The list displays pages that have been in the top-500 most visited pages on the property in the last 60 days. To see pages that haven't been in the top-500 most visited pages in the last 60 days, scroll to the bottom of the list and click Show more.
(Optional) To apply a segment to capture specific visitor types, under in the, select a segment.
A graph appears displaying the selected metric.Note:To adjust the criteria to measure the alert directly from the graph, raise and lower the dotted green line on the graph. For example, by lowering the green line, the session duration in the image below is reduced to 1 mins 8 secs.
- To select how frequently DXA will check the alert, to the right of This alert will be checked, click the dropdown menu and select one of the following options:Note: DXA checks alerts approximately an hour and a half after the period selected below according to the time zone where the property server is located. For example, if you select Monthly, DXA will check the alert at around 01:30 on the 1st day of the following month. DXA may take longer to check the alert if previous data remains to be processed.
- hourly — DXA checks alerts on the property once an hour.
- daily — DXA checks alerts on the property once a day.
- weekly — DXA checks alerts on the property once a week.
- monthly — DXA checks alerts on the property once a month.
To add users to subscribe to receive alert report emails:
In the Alert subscription area, click + Add subscriber.
A list of all users on the property appears.
From the list, select a user to receive the email.
Add more users as necessary.
(Optional) To include details about alerts that weren't triggered in alert report emails, in the Non-triggered alert report area, select Select to receive reports about alerts that weren't triggered..
- (Optional) To also send the alert report to a Slack channel, in the Slack notification area, select Send to Slack and select a Slack channel.
Click Save Alert.
The alert is created and appears on the table in Define Alerts. When the criteria for the alert entered above are met, the alert will be triggered and subscribers will receive a report.
Define Alerts
Information | Description |

Option | Description |

Subscribe | Click to subscribe to the alert report. |
Details | Click to see more details about the alert, such as instances when the alert was triggered and a link to further analysis in Discover Pages (New) or Discover Segments (New). |
Edit | Click to edit the alert. Note: The settings available are the same as the options described in Creating an alert. |
Duplicate | Click to create a copy of the alert. Note: You can edit the alert before saving the copy. |
Delete | Click to delete the alert. Note: Deleting an alert does not delete linked webhooks. |
Filtering alerts displayed in Define Alerts
In Define Alerts, click Filters.
Use one or more of the following filters:
Name — Enter the name of the alert you want to display.
Only my alerts — Select to only display alerts you created.
Only alerts I'm subscribed to — Select to only display alerts you're subscribed to.
Created by — Enter the name of the user who created the alerts you want to display.
Last updated by — Enter the name of the user who most recently updated the alerts you want to display.
Status — Select one of the following alert statuses:
Show All — Alerts with all statuses will be displayed.
No backlog or error — Only alerts that DXA can check will be displayed.
Backlogged — Only alerts remaining to be processed from previous checks will be displayed.
Errored — Only alerts with errors will be displayed.
Click Apply Filters.
The list of alerts displayed in Define Alerts is now filtered.
Alert Details
Alert Details displays a history of when the alert was triggered in a specific time period and links to further analysis in Page Discovery or Segment Discovery.
Every instance where the alert was triggered is shown in a red line on the graph and listed in the table below. Hovering over an instance of a triggered alert in the table highlights the trigger line in the graph.
To change the time period, click the button at the top of the screen and select a Period. By default, this is set to Last 7 days.
