Creating the X-Stats data set and dashboard

Roles with the Manage X-Stats administrative permission can configure X-Stats in Medallia Admin Suite. The process involves creating a data set for analysis, and then making the analyzed data available to users in Medallia Web reporting.

1. On the Medallia Admin Suite home screen, click the X-Stats tile.

   The Manage X-Stats screen appears.

   

2. Click Manage X-Stats Data Set.

   The Edit X-Stats screen appears.

   

3. In Time Period, specify the span of time used to analyze the data set.

   Data in your data set is updated to fit the Time Period with every data refresh.

4. In Data Refresh Frequency, specify how frequently the data set is refreshed with new data.

5. In Data Fields, click Add Fields, select the Experience Cloud fields you want to include in the data set, and then click Select.

   

   Fields you add in the data set are available as variables when performing analyses in the X-Stats dashboard. For information about fields supported in the X-Stats data set, see Supported data types.

   Note: The Survey ID for internal use (a_surveyid) field is required by X-Stats. This field is always added to the data set, even when you do not select it in the list of fields.

6. When you are done creating the data set, click Update.

   Important: The data set table you create for X-Stats can have no more than 100 million cells. The dial on the Edit X-Stats screen shows how much of your available space your data set is using. If the dial shows a number greater than 100%, you cannot progress with the configuration.

7. In the confirmation dialog, click Update.

   A status dialog appears, showing progress of the processing for your data set.

8. On the Edit X-Stats screen, click Close to return to the Manage X-Stats screen.

9. Click Go To Web Navigation.

10. On the Web Navigation screen, click New Tab, and then enter a name for the tab, such as X-Stats.

11. In the row for your new tab, click the Add Subtab icon, and then enter a name for the subtab, such as X-Stats.

    

12. In the row for your subtab, click Assign Report, select Create and assign a new report, and then select X-Stats Dashboard.

    The new dashboard opens for editing.

    

13. In the details panel on the right side of the screen, open the Settings tab.

14. In the Roles that can see this module property, select the roles that need to see the X-Stats dashboard.

    Note: X-Stats is intended for insights users with statistical analysis experience. If you do not already have a role for analysts at your company, consider creating a new role for this purpose. For more information about creating roles, see Roles.

15. In the details panel, open the Filters tab, and add any filters you want available to users when they create projects.

16. In the details panel, open the Modules tab.

17. Hover over the X Analytics module, and click the .

18. If you want to limit the number of decimal places displayed for calculated values, enter that number in the Number of decimal points to display property.

    Note: This property affects all numbers except P-value, which is always shown to the fifth decimal place to maintain granularity for that coefficient.

19. By default, a role can run analysis on any field in the X-Stats data set, if that field is also used in another of that role's reports. To expand that data access to include fields not available in a role's other reports, add those fields in the Additional Variable Access property of the X-Stats dashboard module. For example:

    

    Important: The Additional Variable Access property allows you to select from any fields in your Experience Cloud instance. To prevent errors in data processing, only add fields that are already in your X-Stats data set.

20. At the top of the dashboard, click the Unpublished changes link.

21. In Review unpublished changes, select the X-Stats tab, subtab, dashboard, and module, and then click Publish.

    

22. Exit Admin Suite.

Supported data types

X-Stats supports the analysis of fields with the following data types:

• Fractional.

• Integer.

• Choice set.

X-Stats does not analyze any field marked as containing personally identifying data and does not support support multi-value fields. Due to their nature, there is no standard way of performing many correlation and regression analyses using multi-value fields fields.
