Important: Language and translation management using Medallia Setup has been deprecated. The Locales, Languages, and Translations screens in Setup are no longer generally available. They are included in documentation for reference only.

Languages and translations are now managed from Translations in Medallia Admin Suite. For information about adding and editing languages, see Languages.

The Languages screen lists the languages available to be associated with a locale.

The Languages screen lists the languages available to be associated with a locale.

Warning: While you can add new languages, do not modify existing languages. Contact your Medallia expert for changes.

Properties

Name

You can name the language anything you want. Be aware that the name is used in locales and on the Translations screen.

Locale

Determines subtle things (such as the date format, how days of the week are presented, decimal numbers, and so on) using a Java library. If a locale is already in use on the Locales screen choose a different locale.

PreferredCharset

Optionally, select a character set for the language. UTF-8 is used by default, and is the standard character set for most languages.

Parent

The parent language is inherited by default when there is no translation available for a piece of text. For example, if English is the parent language for French, when there is no French translation available for a piece of text it will be displayed in English.

State

Either ACTIVE or INACTIVE. Languages cannot be deleted because they are associated with survey alternatives. When a language is no longer needed, change the State to INACTIVE.

SpellCheckerAvailable
Enables SpellChecker. Only use this property if the Spell Checker is installed on your instance.
