Label

A label to help you identify the locale.

Use label name

When checked, the reporting application Language dropdown shows the Label instead of the name of the language. Using the Label is useful with languages that have a very different name in their own language. For example, if you want to use русский instead of Russian in the Language dropdown, use русский as the Label and check the Use label name box.

Language

The language associated with the locale, selected from the languages available on the Languages screen. The language name appears on the Translations screen, and is shown to users in the reporting application Language dropdown if Use label name is not checked.

Because every locale must have a unique language, after you save a locale its Language cannot be changed. For example, if you need different translations for European French and Canadian French customers, you would create two locales, such as French and French (Canada). Each locale would be associated with a different language, such as French and French (Canada). If you need to create a new language to associate with a locale, do so on the Languages screen.

UseForReporting

When checked, the reporting application shows a dropdown that allows users to change languages. For example, a user might want to see Responses reports in German instead of English. This feature is not permission based. When you enable multiple languages for reporting they are available to users in all roles.

UseForSurvey

When checked, the language is available to be translated for surveys. Note that this property is not available when using Ad Hoc surveys as the languages are set from within Ad Hoc surveys itself.

Locked

When checked, the language not available to be translated. Use this property to prevent edits to a language used by customers currently.

Parent

If a locale is copied, the Parent indicates the source locale. Do not change this property.

Condition

Conditions enable you to define what causes the locale to appear on a survey's Welcome page. For example, you might want the language available only to customers using a specific program. If you include units or unit groups as part of your condition, it might not be applied to feedless surveys.

State

Either ACTIVE or INACTIVE. Active locales are available to be used by customers. To activate a locale, check the Confirm property and then click Activate this locale.

Make a copy of this locale

Copy a locale if you need a second locale with minimal changes between the locales. For example, if you are already using European French and you need Canadian French, you can make a copy of the European French locale and begin with its translations.
