Sample size

Reporting > Report Helpers > Sample Size

On a role-by-role basis, the Sample Size screen enables you to override the default sample size values configured on the Company > Profile > Company Settings screen. For example, if you segregate access to different survey programs by role, you might set higher sample sizes for roles that see survey responses from customers, and lower sample sizes for roles that see survey responses from employees. For information about optimizing sample size, see Sample size methodology.

For ease of comparison, the default company settings appear at the top of the screen.

Note: Reports created in Medallia Admin Suite do not use the values on this screen, and instead use sample-size properties defined within each report. For more information about creating reports in Admin Suite, see Reporting.

Properties on the Sample Size screen

Min sample size
The minimum count of surveys to be considered statistically meaningful. In most modules and reports, when the sample size is less than this number of records, column headings appear in red.
Hide sample size

Hides results on reports when the sample size is less than this number. Unlike  Min sample size, which only affects the column heading, this option hides individual values (cells in a table).

Allow low sample size (LSS) hiding

Determines whether users can show and hide rows in reports when the sample size is between the  Min sample size and  Hide sample size values. You can select from the following options:

  • USE_COMPANY_SETTING — Defaults to the default company setting
  • Yes — Allows users to show and hide rows with low sample sizes, regardless of the company setting
  • No — Prevents users from showing and hiding rows with low sample sizes, regardless of the company setting
