Matrix
Matrix presents a group of separate questions, where each question is a combination of a row and a column, allowing to add different content for each of them. All questions in Matrix share the same choice set, which can be of different types. For example, in the following image survey takers respond which is their meal time during weekdays and weekends by selecting from the same time options in a dropdown format.

In reports, you can show the distribution of responses to each choice set item, displaying the percentage of responses for each item. For more information, see Matrix Question.
Questions (Rows and Columns)
Questions are made up of the content in both rows and columns, each generating a different Question/Field ID per combination. To add a new question, click the bottom row under Questions (Rows) and under Questions (Columns), and type in your question content. Click the question menu to reveal the properties for each row and column.

These properties apply to each question individually:
- Add display logic
- Allows for choosing when to display the row/column. For more information, see Content logic.
- Remove row/column
- Deletes the row/column.
Question (row and column) options
This property customizes all the questions (rows and columns):
- Randomize rows/columns
- Rows and columns appear in random order when survey takers are responding the survey. This is helpful to remove order bias when survey takers choose from a list of things they liked or disliked. To exclude a row or column from that randomization, click the pin icon in the row/column.

Matrix shares the same choice set across questions and it can take different types depending on the way you would like survey takers to see the choice set items.
Choice set type
Choice set can be:
- Scale
- Option scale the survey taker can choose from. The scale can take different kind of visualizations, as well as display several ranges types and labels.

Range — It displays numeric and sequence numbers incremented by 1, using a 0 to 10 range by default. Choose from the following available ranges:

0-10 — Range goes from 0 to 10.

1-3 — Range goes from 1 to 3.

1-5 — Range goes from 1 to 5.

1-7 — Range goes from 1 to 7.

1-10 — Range goes from 1 to 10.

Custom — This lets you define your own range, starting from 0 or 1 up to 15.

Add N/A as a choice — Places a Not Applicable option at the end of the scale.

Labels — Labels are optional anchors added to the scale, making its meaning less ambiguous by placing these on the end points of the scale. Available labels include:

Not at all likely - Extremely likely.

Not at all satisfied - Extremely satisfied.

Do not agree at all - Completely agree.

Custom — This lets you define your own labels and the position you would like to place them. For example, when grading a experience using 'Excellent', 'Very good', 'Good', 'Poor', 'Bad'. Be aware of the phrasing on the anchors, as it affects responses.

- Custom list - Choose one
- Allows the survey taker to select one choice set item for each question.
- Custom list - Choose many
- Allows the survey taker to select multiple choice set items for each question.
- Text
- Allows the survey taker to enter some text as choice set item.
Visualization type
Based on the Choice set type selected, choice set can be displayed in different ways:
- Numeric
- Only for Scale choice set type. The scale shows a range of numbers the survey taker must choose from.
- Star
- Only for Scale choice set type. The scale shows starts instead of numbers the survey taker must choose from.
- Radio button
- Only for Scale choice set type. The scale shows radio buttons the survey taker must choose from, but no numbers.
- Dropdown
- It shows a series of possible answers survey takers can select from a dropdown field.
- Single line
- Only for Text choice set type. Survey takers can enter one-line input.
- Multi-line
- Only for Text choice set type. Survey takers can enter a longer input.
