Global benchmarking report
A Global benchmarking report shows how your brand compares to its rivals using Custom Rival lists by brand or STR Rival lists. You can research and compare social feedback globally for all brands, parent companies, management companies, and owner companies, for any industry.
-
Understand how your rivals are performing on a company, brand, and regional level.
Compare your rivals to each other on an aggregate level.
Leverage Medallia Text Analytics capabilities to understand the reasons behind scores.
For more information, see Create a Global benchmarking report and Text Analytics topics.
How do I compare with my rivals?
Use this section to understand how your brand compares to its rivals in the Custom Rival lists by brand, across social review sources and metrics.
Mouse over each of the brand columns to see the overall score each brand has.
What are my strengths and weaknesses compared to my rivals?
Use this section to understand your strengths and weaknesses compared to your rivals in Custom rivals list by brand.
Use the Strengths and Improvement Areas bar charts to review the strength and weaknesses of your brand and its rivals, so you can identify areas of opportunity. The greater the Impact Score, the more influential that metric is to your online reputation across all review sites. In this section, the Impact Score considers topic volume in the calculation. Specifically:
For example, this image shows that the Breakfast has a positive impact on the customer experience for your brand, as with your rivals' Helpfulness, while the Room odor experience might need to be improved for your brand, and customers of your rivals have had negative experiences with Billing.
You also see that your rivals' Staff professionalism impact is higher than with you. You might use this information to improve that for your brand to be more competitive with your rivals.
The Summary of Brands and Topics table shows a summary of all the parent topics mentioned for your brands and its rivals. The percentages for Positive and Negative sentiments are the numbers of reviews tagged as positive or negative by the topic, divided by the total number of reviews.
Use the Key Metrics Across Topics table to understand key metrics across all parent and child topics for your brand and its rivals. The percentage for Responses is the number of reviews tagged by the topic, divided by the total number of reviews. The percentage for Positive Sentiment reflects the percent of all reviews tagged as positive for the topic.
The TripAdvisor Rank Percentile chart tracks the TripAdvisor rank over time for the selected brand and its competitors, showing changes in rank history in the brand's market. Mouse over a data point to reveal a pop-up with more detailed data for that time period.
Text Analytics topics
Medallia Text Analytics categorizes comments according to subject matter. Each category of comments is called a topic. The topics in benchmarking reports reflect the subjects individuals discuss most frequently.
The set of topics available for benchmarking is exclusive to these reports — if your company has Text Analytics, there will be a different set of topics in all other reports. Additionally, you cannot edit benchmarking report topics
For example, the Strengths and Improvement Areas, Summary of Brands and Topics and Key Metrics across Topics modules report on topics, and include sentiment information about each topic. By comparing the percentage of positive or negative sentiment in topics, you can evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your competitors.

Create a Global benchmarking report
Complete these steps to create a Global benchmarking report in Admin Suite Reports. The report is a dashboard with several Custom modules based on Medallia Advanced Analytics XML framework (or AA2), and two Section Header modules that organize the Custom modules and provide links to reports in other subtabs.
-
On the Web navigation screen, create a new subtab to contain the Global benchmarking report.
For example, you might create a Global benchmarking subtab in the Social Media Overview tab. For more information, see Navigation.
-
In the row for the new subtab, click Assign report, Create and assign a new report, and Web dashboard.
Your new report opens for editing.
Configure the Settings tab of the new report:
Enter a new dashboard title, such as Global Benchmarking.
If you want to limit the report to show data from a specific program, click Add program and then choose a program from the list.
Select one or more Roles That Can See This Report.
If you want to allow specific users from other roles to see the report, click Assign specific users to see this module, add one or more users, and then select each user's role.
If you want users to be able to print and export the report, turn on the Show print/export property.
If you want to create a new page for every section header when reporting to PDF, turn on the Split PDF on Section Header property.
Click Save.
-
In the Filters tab, click Add filters and select:
Timeperiod.
-
Segment filters.
Note: When using STR Rival lists, you can also filter using the STR attribute fields. Note that:-
You can change the STR attribute field names using Translations.
-
Admin Suite Reports do not support adding
so_fields, so you can't select them from Reports. To modify these filters, use Setup.
For information, see Create control panels.Tip: To filter by brand or Unit group category, create a Custom group and choose the category and/or their Unit groups. -
-
Open the Modules tab of the report, and complete the following steps for each Custom module you want to add:
Click Add module, and then click Create new Custom module to open the Module Template editor.
-
Click I'll write my own XML code.
In the Code tab of the Module Template editor, add these code snippets for each custom module:
