Implementing Digital Experience Analytics with Adobe Experience Platform Launch

This page describes how to implement Digital Experience Analytics (DXA) with Adobe Experience Platform Launch using the DXA extension.

Adobe Experience Platform Launch DXA extension

The Adobe Experience Platform Launch DXA extension provides a comprehensive set of features to manage your DXA instance, as well as easy-to-use actions allowing you to make advanced configurations usually requiring developer resources.

Installing the Adobe Experience Platform Launch extension

  1. In Adobe Experience Platform Launch, go to Extensions > Catalog.
  2. In the search bar, search for "decibel". Searching for DXA in Adobe Experience Platform Launch catalog
  3. Click Install.

Configuring the Decibel extension for deployment

  1. In Adobe Experience Platform Launch, go to Extensions.

  3. Depending on your requirements, select one of the following implementation types to configure the DXA extension:
    • Basic Recommended for properties in Adobe Experience Platform Launch corresponding to one property in DXA
    • Advanced — Recommended for multi-property deployments and users seeking enhanced integration with Adobe Analytics

Further information for configuring the DXA extension using both implementation types are outlined below.

Basic implementation

If you are using SaaS implementation, you must provide your DXA account ID and property ID. These are found in Tracking Code Settings on the DXA portal, as displayed in the image below:

If you are using hosted tag or on-premises implementation:

  1. Under Script Hosting, select Self-hosted.
  2. Under Hosted Tag Configuration, enter the Tracking Script Domain and Tracking Script Path.Implementation options for DXA
  3. Create a rule implementing the DXA Tracking Code action.

If you are using content delivery network (CDN) implementation, enter your DXA Account id and Property id. These are found in Tracking Code Settings on the DXA portal.

If you are using self-hosted tag implementation, enter the Tracking Script Domain and Tracking Script Path.

Using the Decibel extension in Adobe Experience Platform Launch

The DXA extension includes the following events, actions, and data elements:

Events

Events are used to trigger actions in Adobe Experience Platform Launch. They are the "if" portion of a rule.

The following events are included:

  • ready
  • onCollectionChange

Actions

Actions are triggered by events in Adobe Experience Platform Launch. They are the "then" portion of a rule. When an event is triggered, the "if" condition becomes "true" and the action is performed.

Data elements

Data elements are variable that can be mapped to query strings, URLs, cookie values, JavaScript variables, etc. You can reference a data element value using its variable name in Adobe Experience Platform Launch.
