Quarantine rules
Quarantine rules prevent over-sending of surveys to the same invitees too often. The potential Invitation email are compared to a list of recently sent emails within a recent number of days. Potential emails that match recent ones are excluded from the final invitation set. Only invitees who were sent Invitation emails — or who completed surveys, if that option is used — are included in the quarantine list. Potential emails that were excluded for any reason, including quarantine or other filters, are not included.

Quarantine rules screen lists all the available rules for that particular company instance. To create and manage Quarantine rules, contact your Medallia expert.

Details pane
Click on a Quarantine rule to reveal its details pane, which shows the:
- Quarantine days
- Number of days in the quarantine period before an invitee can be included in a subsequent Invitation email. A value of 1 means the 24 hours previous to the timestamp of when the current record was created (the new potential invitation). For example, if the potential invitation email was created at 3 p.m., a value of 1 means "since 3 p.m. yesterday, inclusive". Tip: You should set 60 days as the minimum quarantine period.
- Quarantine fields
- Field IDs to match incoming records to existing surveys. The potential invitation email is excluded when any (
ORoperation) of its field values match the same field's value in the quarantine records. Typically only the invitee's Email is used. - Consider only completed surveys in quarantine pool
- The rule only applies to respondents who completed a survey, and to surveys that were completed in that period. Surveys created within the quarantine period but not completed will get a new invitation email. Tip: If you use this option, there should also be another rule to match non-complete surveys.
- Quarantine pool rule
- Only the surveys that match this rule condition will be considered in the quarantine pool to compare it against the incoming records.
- Incoming records rule
- The Quarantine rule only applies to incoming records matching this rule condition. If the condition is left blank, the quarantine rule applies to all incoming records. If the condition is set to No, this rule is not triggered.
