Local benchmarking report
A Local benchmarking report show how one selected unit compares to its rivals using STR rivals, Nearby rivals or Custom Rival list by unit. The report includes metrics that compare the property to rivals over time based on reviews from different sources, for any industry. If your company has multiple units, use the Property dropdown in the Control panel to select an individual unit.
The dashboard contains two sections, each with several data visualizations:
See Create a Local benchmarking report for details on how to create a Local benchmarking report.
How do I compare to my rivals?
Use this section to understand how a property compares to its rivals in the STR rivals, Nearby rivals or Custom Rival list by unit, across social review sources and metrics. Click the section header to open the Rival Comparison subtab for the selected property.
Use the Index Score by Source table to understand how the unit's online reputation compares to its competitors. The index score represents the unit’s average overall score divided by your rivals’ average overall score, multiplied by 100. Scores over 100 are colored green, while scores under 100 are colored red and might need attention.
Use the Key Metrics by Property table to understand how the unit ranks in average overall score, top box, and volume of reviews over the default timeperiod. The Review Pace column shows the number of reviews coming in per week for each property.
For the hospitality industry, use The TripAdvisor Property Rank chart to track the TripAdvisor rank over time for the selected unit and its competitors, showing changes in rank history in the property's market. Mouse over a data point to reveal a pop-up with more detailed data for that time period.
What are customers saying about my property and my rivals?
Use this section to understand strengths and weaknesses of a unit compared to its rivals in the STR or Nearby rivals list. Click the section header to open the Rival Responses subtab for the selected property.
Use the Strengths and Improvement Areas bar charts to review the strength and weaknesses of your unit and its rivals, so you can identify areas of opportunity. The greater the Impact Score, the more influential that metric is to your online reputation across all review sites. In this section, the Impact Score considers topic volume in the calculation. Specifically:
For example, the following image shows that Friendliness has a positive impact on the guest experience for both your property and its rivals, while the Bathroom experience might need to be improved for your property, and guests of your rivals have had negative experiences with the billing process.
You also see that your rivals' Room Decor impact is higher than with your unit. You might use this information to improve your room decor in the property to be more competitive with your rivals.
Use the Key Metrics Across Topics table to understand key metrics across all parent and child topics for your property and its rivals. The percentage for Responses is the number of reviews tagged by the topic, divided by the total number of reviews. The percentage for Positive Sentiment reflects the percent of all reviews tagged as positive for the topic. For more information, see Text Analytics topics.
Create a Local benchmarking report
Complete these steps to create a Local benchmarking report in Admin Suite Reports. The report is a dashboard with several Custom modules based on Medallia Advanced Analytics XML framework (or AA2), and two Section Header modules that organize the Custom modules and provide links to reports in other subtabs.
-
On the Web Navigation screen, create a new subtab to contain the Local benchmarking report.
For example, you might create a Local Benchmarking subtab in the Social Media Overview tab. For more information about working with tabs and subtabs, see Navigation.
-
In the row for the new subtab, click Assign Report, Create and assign a new report, and Web dashboard.
-

-
If you want to allow specific users from other roles to see the report, click Assign specific users to see this module, add one or more users, and then select each user's role.
-
If you want users to be able to print and export the report, turn on the Show print/export property.
