Medallia Mobile Navigation

Medallia Experience Cloud displays reports in navigation containers called tabs and subtabs, which you can name and arrange as you see fit. Tabs define the top-level of report navigation, and contain one or more subtabs. Each subtab contains a report. If a tab has more than one subtab, users see the names of the tab and its subtabs when viewing reports. If a tab has only one subtab, users see only the name of the tab when viewing the report.

Subtabs exist independently from the reports they contain, which allows you to prepare and publish reports on that subtab separately. When you are ready to make all of the content of a subtab available to users, publish that subtab.

Medallia Admin Suite includes two Navigation screens to help you manage tabs and subtabs:

Each Navigation screen includes important information about the reports in each subtab. For example, in the following image of the Mobile Navigation screen, the My store tab is expanded to show all of its subtabs, with information about the reports in those subtabs:

Click the name of a report to open that report for editing. For more information, see Dashboards and Responses reports. Click the number of modules in the Report Content column to open a list of the modules in that report. From there, click any module name to open it for editing. For example:

With a subtab row highlighted:

  1. Click to remove that report from the subtab.

  2. Click to duplicate a dashboard report and place it in a new subtab.

  3. Click to delete the subtab and remove its report.

The order of tabs and subtabs displayed to users in the Medallia Web reporting and Medallia Mobile is the same order they listed on the Web Navigation and Mobile Navigation screens. On the Web Navigation and Mobile Navigation screens, drag and drop tabs and subtabs to change their order.

Background images

By default, each tab displays the same blue background color. If you are using Medallia Alchemy Experience Reporting, you can change the background color for any individual tab by clicking the Tab Background icon, and then selecting a color for that tab. Experience Cloud provides a set of default colors, plus a custom background image if one has been configured for your instance.

To set a custom background image, upload a file to the BackgroundNavImage property on the Company > Branding > Application Branding screen in Setup. For more information, see Application branding.

Click the Tab Background icon to select a background color for any tab

Tab and subtab icons

If you are using Medallia Alchemy Experience Reporting, you can select an icon for any tab or subtab by clicking Tab Icon, and then selecting an icon.

Role-based permission

Whether a user can see a tab or subtab is determined by the role-based permissions defined for the reports they display. If a user has a role defined in a report, that user can see that report (in its subtab) as well as the parent tab.

For example, consider a reporting application with a Satisfaction tab and a Table subtab (named after the Table report it contains). If a user has a role defined in the Table report, that user would see the Satisfaction tab and the Table subtab. If that user does not have a role defined in the Table report, that user might still see other reports on the Satisfaction tab if that user's role is defined in those reports. If a user has no role defined in any of the reports on a tab, that user does not see the tab.

Creating tabs and subtabs in navigation

Each tab represents a top-level navigation item for reports. Subtabs contain reports.

Note: If you are using Mobile Hybrid mode, you can manage tabs and subtabs on the Mobile navigation screen in the same way as on the Web Navigation screen. If you are using Mobile Native mode, you cannot create new tabs or subtabs on the Mobile Navigation screen. However, you can reorder the Responses and Dashboard tabs for Medallia Mobile.

For more information, see Customize Medallia Mobile.

  1. On the Mobile Navigation screen, click New Tab.

The new tab appears at the bottom of the list.

  2. Enter a title for the tab.

For example, the new tab in the following image is named Executive Summary:

A new tab named Executive Summary

After you enter a name, an orange circle to the left of the tab appears, letting you know it is an unpublished item. Additionally, an orange circle appears at the top of the screen, showing how many unpublished items you have in total. For more information about publishing, see Reporting.

  3. Drag and drop the tab to place it in the order you want it to appear to users in the Medallia Web reporting or Medallia Mobile reporting application.

  4. To add a new subtab for Web Navigation or Mobile Navigation, click the plus icon in the tab row.

  5. Enter a title for the new subtab.

  6. To add a report to the subtab, click Assign Report and then select either Add an existing report or Create and assign a new report.

Note: When adding an existing report, the list of reports includes only those that have not already been assigned to a subtab.

Click Assign Report in a subtab row to give the subtab a report.

  7. Configure the report you add, based on its type. For more information, see the following topics:

Customizing tab order

By default, roles see Medallia Mobile tabs in the following order:

  1. Dashboard
  2. Responses
  3. Notifications

  4. Scorecards

  5. Menu

You can, however, configure navigation so specific roles see the Responses tab before the Dashboard tab. (The Me tab always appears last in the order for all roles.) The Mobile Navigation screen in Admin Suite includes two tabs for Responses, and one tab for Dashboards. Any roles assigned to a report in the first Responses tab see that tab before the Dashboard tab in Medallia Mobile. Any roles assigned to reports in the second Responses tab see that tab after the Dashboard tab in Medallia Mobile. By default, roles are assigned to reports in the second Responses tab. For any role you want to have the Responses tab listed first, create a report for that role in the first Responses tab.

Important: A role can be assigned only one responses report. If you want a role to see the Responses tab first, you must first remove that role from its report in the second Responses tab.

For example, the following image shows that the Frontline Call Center role has a report defined in the first Responses tab, so that role will see the Responses tab before the Dashboard tab in Medallia Mobile. All other roles are assigned to reports in the second Responses tab, so those roles will see the Responses tab after the Dashboard tab in Medallia Mobile. For more information about managing navigation for reports in Admin Suite, see Navigation.
