Background image
A background image can help establish a look and feel of your community.
Set the background image that appears behind the community content panel. The image can a single large background image or a repeating tiled pattern.
For a tiled background image, the image can be any size. The smaller the image is, the more times it repeats in the background of your community.
When using one large image, consider:
The center of the image will be obscured by the community pane
The image will be viewed on monitors of different sizes, so the size of your image should be optimized to look good for as many as possible.
The most commonly used screen size (as of 2024) is 1920 x 1080 pixels. However, many people use 1366 x 768 pixels and smaller screens. Either way, the sides of the image will be either
- cut off for screens smaller than the image, or
- empty for screens wider than the image.
Regardless of size, consider positioning the image to be Center, Center top or Center bottom to ensure it sits correctly around the community pane.
These size guides can help when creating a background image. If you are using Adobe Photoshop or an app that can read Photoshop files, the first guide shows the different screen sizes as different layers. The guide is a full-size image showing the different screen sizes.
