Permissions and access levels

Administrators can change the community and invite users. Permissions give abilities to be moderators, and blog authors.

Anyone who interacts with Medallia Ideas is a user with permission to view challenges, review and vote on ideas posted by others, and post their own ideas. Additional permissions enhance user capabilities and classify the users.

User

Users can view challenges, review and vote on ideas posted by others, and post their own ideas.

Admin

Admins are responsible for the set-up and day-to-day running of an Medallia Ideas community. They control what the community looks like, who has access to it, and what users can engage with when they sign in.

Administrators are the only users who can see The Admin menu for managing the settings for a community.

Note: All administrators are "blog editors" and "moderators" of all Challenges.
Moderator

Moderators are users who can manage the ideas in a Challenge. They can

  • Edit ideas (including idea tags and attachments)

  • Move ideas into another challenge (they must be moderators of both challenges)

  • Approve ideas

  • Advance ideas in a funnel challenge

  • Give ideas a status label

  • Remove ideas from a challenge

Moderators, assigned by administrators for specific Challenges, can edit, move, and approve ideas within their designated Challenges. Moderators can only manage the Challenges for which they specifically have permission.

Note: All administrators are "moderators" of all Challenges.

For information about who can access a Challenge, and how to assign moderator permission to users of the Challenge, see Setting the access to your challenge.

Blog editors
Can write and edit blogs, and they can manage blog categories and move posts in the categories. Other users can only comment on and subscribe to blogs.

For information about assigning blog permissions to users, see Change blog contributor permissions.
