Failover in System Management
Overview
Two core instances are present in a high availability Callback environment. Only one core instance is active (primary) at a time, meaning only one Queue Manager is running. The other core instance (backup) is ready to take over when needed in the case of an automatic failover.
You can perform a manual failover from the primary to backup core instance at any time via the Make Primary button of the backup core instance in the System Management Status screen. (Click the gear icon to the right of the core instance to display the Make Primary button.)
You must have Control permissions for the System Management interface in order to access the Make Primary button. Learn more about these permissions in User Access Levels.
Performing a Manual Failover
When an instance has the Make Primary button enabled, it is running in Backup mode and is ready in the event of a failover. To initiate a manual failover, perform the following:
Click Make Primary on the instance.
Click Yes to initiate the failover, or click Cancel to cancel the process.
The Make Primary button on the instance becomes hidden once it is clicked. The Make Primary button on the previously primary (now backup) instance becomes active and available for failover.
