Starting, Stopping, and Restarting Components

Use the System Management Status screen to start, stop, and restart certain Callback components.

You must have Control permissions for the System Management interface in order to Start, Stop, or Restart components. Learn more about these permissions in User Access Levels.

Controllable vs Non-Controllable Components

Only controllable components can be stopped, started, and restarted through System Management.

  • Non-controllable components are shaded gray and listed first (in alphabetical order).
  • Controllable components are un-shaded and listed second (in alphabetical order).

Selecting and Clearing Components

Before you start, stop, or restart a component, you must first select it on the screen.

Selecting an Individual Component

Click one or more controllable components to select them and highlight them. The Manage Components dropdown box automatically expands.

Selecting All Components

Use the Select All option in the Manage Components box to select every controllable component across all core and peripheral instances, regardless of the current status of those components.

  • Mousing over Select All outlines the affected components.
  • Clicking Select All highlights all components.

Clearing an Individual Component

Click a highlighted component to clear it from the selection.

Clearing All Components

Use the Clear All option in the Manage Components box to clear all the selected components.

  • When you hover the mouse over Clear All, the affected components are outlined and "popped out".
  • After you click Clear All, the affected components are cleared.

Starting, Stopping, and Restarting Components

Use the Start, Stop, and Restart options in the Manage Components dropdown box to control a component through the System Management interface versus logging in to a physical server to stop or start a service. This may be necessary when shutting down a server to perform updates or installations.

  • Start - Start a component of either a core or peripheral instance.
  • Stop - Stop a component of either a core or peripheral instance.
  • Restart - Restart a component of either a core or peripheral instance. Clicking this button is equivalent to clicking Stop followed by Start.

After selecting Start, Stop, or Restart, a dialog box displays the selected components and prompts you to confirm.Click Yes to continue or click Cancel to cancel.

Stopping components may take up to 30-seconds for the component to change from Active to Stopped.

Queue Manager cannot be selected using the Start, Stop, and Restart buttons. However, Queue Manager can be stopped by entering Maintenance Mode. It can be started by making the backup core instance primary. Refer to Maintenance Mode in System Management for more details.Provider and Readerboard Adapter are controlled by Queue Manager and will automatically start and stop when Queue Manager starts and stops. However, they may also be manually controlled.
