Create and Manage Attributes

Attribute creation and data capture involve a two-step process:

  • Create the Attribute for data storage.
  • Establish an Attribute Capture Point to collect data into the attribute.

Create an Attribute

  1. In MXO, navigate to Collect and select Attributes.

  2. Click Create and specify the attribute type: Customer Attribute or Activity Attribute.

  3. Enter the attribute details as follows:

    NameProvide a unique name.
    DescriptionOptional. Describe the attribute.
    Data TypeChoose Text, Boolean, or Number.
    Key AttributeFor Customer Attributes, select if it's a key.
    API NameAssign a unique API name for key attributes.
    Storage MethodDecide on the storage format in MXO.
  4. Confirm by clicking Save.

Edit a Customer Attribute

  1. In MXO, go to Collect.
  2. Choose Attributes.
  3. Select the attribute to edit and click Edit.
  4. Update as needed and click Save.

Important Considerations

  • System attributes provided byMXO cannot be edited.
  • Modifying the API name of a key attribute can disrupt integrations that rely on the original name upon its next publication.
  • Altering an attribute's storage method only impacts new data entries; existing values retain their original storage format.

Delete an Attribute

  1. Navigate to Collect in MXO.
  2. Go to Attributes.
  3. Select the attribute and click the Delete icon.
  4. Confirm deletion by clicking Yes, delete it.

Important Considerations

  • You cannot delete Key or System attributes from MXO.
