Changes that affect functionality.

SFTP

Warning: Medallia is consolidating our SFTP storage layer into a single, scalable platform that can account for increased signal volume and sizing from our clients. All legacy SFTP servers are now deprecated and will be obsolete after October 31, 2022. Clients, partners, and administrators must migrate to the new SFTP layer or to a third-party SFTP server before that date.

This change will affect legacy SFTP servers whose names begin with "ftp1.", "mft." and "mft1.". The new SFTP servers names all begin with "filestash."

This change will affect existing exports and feed pulls. User names and SSH keys will remain the same. Passwords, however, cannot be migrated due to security constraints. If your program uses one of the legacy SFTP severs, it will need to be migrated to the new storage layer. For assistance, please contact your Medallia servicing contact or to Medallia Support via https://help.medallia.com.

Static files hosted in Medallia's AWS S3 bucket

Warning: Beginning 31 July 2022, Medallia no longer hosts client-files in its AWS S3 bucket. All access to existing files stored in the bucket has been terminated. Medallia recommends companies either host the files themselves, or use some public storage system like Amazon AWS S3 buckets or DropBox storage.

Auto Importer and passwords

Warning: It is possible to update user-account passwords through Auto Importer. This feature may be deprecated in a future release. If your company requires this feature, contact your Medallia representative to have them validate the requirement with the Medallia Security Engineering and Trust Assurance group teams.

Medallia MQL API

Warning: The Medallia MQL API will be deprecated after July 31, 2024. Clients, partners, and administrators must migrate usage to Query API by that date. For more information, contact your Medallia expert.

Apple device privacy

Important: Beginning in the second half of 2021, Apple devices now include advanced privacy protections that — while not affecting the ability to collect feedback — can affect some Medallia Experience Cloud features by masking or obfuscating IP addresses, hiding email addresses, and preventing tracking features used to determine email open and bounce statistics, and disabling detailed geolocation reporting. System Requirements

Medallia Web reporting requirements

  • Operating system — Mac OS or Windows supported versions.

  • Screen resolution — 1280 x 1024 minimum.

  • Supported browsers — Edge, Firefox 27+, Chrome 30+, and Safari 9+. For the best experience, Medallia recommends that you use the most recent version of your preferred browser.

  • JavaScript — Enabled.

  • Internet Explorer — Font download enabled. On IE, select Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level > Downloads > Font Download > Enable.

  • A PDF viewer — View exported PDFs.

  • Microsoft Excel — View exported Excel files.

Restriction: Beginning with this release, Medallia Experience Cloud no longer supports Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.

Mobile applications

Generally, mobile applications support the three most recent major versions of iOS and Android. For the best experience, use the most recent version available. For more information, see Medallia Mobile release notes.

Survey taking requirements

Experience Cloud surveys supports these browsers only:
  • Edge
  • Firefox 27+
  • Chrome 30+
  • Safari 9+
Older versions of those browsers may have the capabilities of displaying surveys; however, they are not officially supported.

Release Highlights

Admin Suite

  • ERROR - unresolved reference (Admin-suite) users now have default access to the new Report editor, which provides real-time editing of dashboards and modules, with streamlined editing and preview capabilities. Admins are also able to enter use the editing mode from within their reporting application, in addition to from within Admin Suite.

Athena

  • Sentiment model changes that enables transfer learning where training data from one language improves results across supported languages. The main benefit happens in conversational signals where we use learning in English for predictions in conversational signals in other supported languages.

Emails

  • UI components have been updated to provide a unified experience across Admin Suite. There is no impact on user flows.

Integrations

  • New connector for Genesys Cloud contact center to import chat conversations for analysis. The connector imports chat conversations for text analysis, tags the agent, and brings in any additional metadata for reporting and segmentation. Filters are available for both queues and metadata field to selectively import chats. This feature is available upon request. Ask your Medallia expert to file a Feature activation request with Medallia Support.

  • Medallia Experience Cloud Integration apps now support a Slack login to retrieve a Slack access token.

  • Omni Exporter now supports a Slack login method that gets the access token via an Experience Cloud Integration app. When using the Slack login, Omni Exporter automatically adds the required HTTP headers, and the rest of the HTTP header options in the UI are disabled.

Medallia Web reporting

  • New anonymity protection settings for Employee experience (EX) reports. This feature is available upon request. Ask your Medallia expert to file a Feature activation request with Medallia Support.

  • Filtering Action plans by unit groups and duplicating an existing Action plan are now available.

Reporting

  • Enhanced Crosstab capabilities to show:

    • Count and percentage metrics for each row/column intersection
    • Calculation of Chi-squared value.
    • Downloading the report in PDF and Excel.
    • Nesting columns to select columns within columns.
    • Saving settings/fields selected in the module-level UI controls for ease of accessing the same reporting.

  • Reports' standard font has been updated from Gotham to Nunito. Nunito provides increased scalability and readability, and consumes slightly less vertical space than Gotham. In case your device or browser does not support Nunito (uncommon), you are defaulted to a Sans-serif font that has been tested to work well within Experience Cloud design parameters. If you use a font override in any custom HTML within your Experience Cloud implementation, it will not be impacted by this change.

  • NGR-25640 General updates:

    • Medallia Mobile:

      • All web modules are now available on Medallia Mobile.
      • Toast messages fixed.

    • Reporting:

      • Dashboard Ranking — Highlighted search box for rows and module-level question selection for exports.
      • Pivot Table — Configurable module control for users to define Sample size.
      • Responses Form — Ability to edit and delete comments.
      • Feedback responses — CC available.

    • Medallia Text Analytics:

      • Theme Explorer module: default for Display by filter is now configurable by admins.
