Auto Importer and passwords

Warning: It is possible to update user-account passwords through Auto Importer. This feature may be deprecated in a future release. If your company requires this feature, contact your Medallia representative to have them validate the requirement with the Medallia Security Engineering and Trust Assurance group teams.

Medallia MQL API

Warning: The Medallia MQL API is deprecated and will no longer be available after July 31, 2024. Clients, partners, and administrators must migrate usage to Query API by that date. For more information, contact your Medallia expert.

Exported delimited-text file fields now start with tab values

Warning: As of the Fall 2023.3 release, files exported as CSV, pipe, and tab delimited formats start with a tab character for field values beginning with =, +, -, or @. For example, -100 changes to \t-100 (ASCII 9 for tab). This mitigates a security risk that could allow code malicious injection into spreadsheet programs. Applications processing CSV files must comply with RFC-4180 and should trim whitespace from field values before use — that is, remove surrounding whitespace (tab, newline, or space characters) before using the value. For more information, see CWE-1236.

Exporting using StringTemplate is deprecated

Restriction: As of the Summer 2023 release, the ability to set up exports using StringTemplate is deprecated. Customers that had StringTemplate exports prior to Summer 2023 may continue to use those exports, and they will also still be able to set up new ones using StringTemplate. If you require the use of StringTemplate, submit a Feature activation request so that Medallia teams can validate the use of this now-deprecated feature.

"From" email addresses

Important: As of the Fall 2023 release, the email address From Name and From Address for survey exports and Push reports are automatically generated and cannot be changed. For example, the exports Name now includes the company or instance name in the form of MEC Export for [companyName], and the address includes the company or instance name as shown in the Web reporting instance URL, such as mec-export-[companyUrlName]@[broadcasterHost].com.

Release highlights

Admin Suite

  • Admins now have the ability to modify the Unit types from the Units screen in Medallia Admin Suite. This aligns with the current behavior of Importers in Admin Suite.

Medallia Web

  • Drilling up and down Nested segments is now available in reports.

Reporting

  • Functionality added to the new Responses Form for parity of export settings:

    • Selection of fields to be exported.
    • Comment translations available to be exported.
    • Configuration available for admins specifying file name, formatting option, and file formats.

    • Changes on the reporting labels from Number of responses to Records. User interface update on Medallia Alchemy Experience Reporting to provide a signal agnostic label.

    • Added Expanded significance testing footer to these modules:

      • Score by Segments over time.
      • Dashboard ranking
      • Pivot table
      • Benchmark over time

      Note that this is not a breaking schema change.

    • New control in Report editor for admins to enable sample size controls for reporting users, affecting Scores over time, Score by Segments over time, and Module builder modules.

  • The Module editor now allows question groups to be configured as columns or rows when selected in the control panel.

  • Revamped Feedback response editor:

    • Revamped user interface — With a redesigned user interface, the editor now offers a more intuitive, user-friendly and consistent experience across both web and mobile platforms. These changes streamline email composition allowing you to draft feedback responses more efficiently.
    • New icons — New, visually appealing icons for Spell check, Signature settings, Attachments, Discard drafts, and Save and close to streamline your response drafting process.
    • Spellcheck in Medallia Mobile — New Spell check feature in Medallia Mobile enhancing the capabilities of the mobile platform.
    • Informative toast messages — New toast messages keep you updated on the actions perform such as sending an email, saving a draft, or discarding a draft.
    • Template modification warning — Pop-up warning message appear to alert when modifications are made to a template and a different template is selected from the Feedback response editor to prevent accidental data loss and ensures a smooth user experience.

Social

  • Admins can now set up Medallia Social Feedback in Admin Suite, which provides a more intuitive user experience and consumes less time. You can find the Social tile under the Additional Signals section on Admin Suite home.

Text Analytics

  • You can now filter Contact fields in the Program Fields screen based on Used for Contact Identity, Personal Identifiable Information, and Indexed for search status.

Restricted access updates

Three previously announced generative AI solutions are now actively recruiting for customer testing as part of ongoing development. Contact your Medallia representative to express interest.

Intelligent Summaries

  • Conversational transcripts related to chat and speech interactions can be automatically summarized using Generative AI. Those summaries may be included in reporting or exports. Engagements are expected to begin in the Spring 2024 release.

Smart Response

  • Personalized content to reply to an experience can be generated with AI based on feedback record context. Engagements are expected to begin in the Summer 2024.

Resolved issues

Admin Suite

  • Added case sensitivity flexibility for relationship management.

Text Analytics

  • TA Trends Over Time and TA Pivot Table modules now work with all scores/ranges in the Score Filter
