Analyze Funnels

Analyze Funnels visualizes the flow of visitors through a defined path on a website.
Note: For an overview of funnels and details on how to create them, see Funnels.

Using funnels

  1. On the navigation bar, go to Analyze > Funnels > Analyze.Funnels list

  2. In the funnels list, in the Actions column, click Right arrow the right arrow for the funnel you want to view.

The funnel below visualizes visitors progressing through four previously defined steps in a selected date range. This funnels shows that, out of 21K sessions, most visitors dropped off at step 2 and few visitors reached completion.Funnel example

Comparing date ranges and segments in a funnel
To compare two date ranges in a funnel:
  1. In Analyze Funnels, click the date range dropdown menu. By default, this is set to Last 7 full days (excluding today).

  2. Enter the primary date range:

    • To select a predefined date range, such as Last 7 days or This month, click the Date range dropdown menu.

    • To enter your own date range, enter a From date and a To date.

  3. Click Apply changes.

    The date range is applied to all funnels.

  4. Click Compare.

  5. Enter the comparison date range:

    • To select a predefined date range, click the Date range dropdown menu.
      Note: Select Previous period to compare data in the primary date range with the data from the same date range a period earlier. For example, if the primary date range is Last 7 full days and you select Previous period, the comparison date range will be the last 7 full days from seven days ago.
    • To enter your own date range, enter a From date and a To date.

  6. Click Apply compare.

The primary and comparison dates are applied to all funnels.

To compare two segments in a funnel:

  1. In Analyze Funnels, click Segment.Segment dropdown menu

  2. In the Segment dropdown menu, select the primary segment.

  3. Click Apply changes.

    The segment is applied to all funnels.

  4. Click Compare.

  5. In the Segment dropdown menu, select the comparison segment.

  6. Click Apply compare.

Funnel step sessions list

To view a list of sessions at any step of the funnel, click the number below one of the following categories on the funnel:
  • SESSIONS — Displays sessions for all visitors who began the step

  • DROP-OFF — Displays sessions all visitors who abandoned the journey at the step

Funnel step sessions

The image above shows the funnel step sessions list for a funnel step. The funnel step sessions list contains anonymous visitor information, such as the device and country each visitor entered the step from, the visitor's focus time and the DXS.

To view a session replay for any of the sessions, in the Actions column, click Session replay button Session replay.

Exporting funnel step sessions as a CSV file
  1. On the top-right of the funnel step sessions list, click Export.Export dropdown

  2. Click Export as CSV.

    The Export name window appears.

  3. In the Export name window, edit the file name if necessary and select how long you want to retain the exported file in DXA.

The file begins to export and appears in the Recent exports table. When the export completes, you can download, edit, and delete the file from the Actions column.

All exported files are saved in the archive for the entered length of time.

Journeys

To view the funnel applied to journeys, on the funnel, click the Journeys tab. This helps you to understand how visitors navigate through the funnel and to identify user patterns and experiences.
