Create and manage eligibility rules

Learn how to create and manage eligibility rules in MXO's eligibility rules editor.

When creating, editing or cloning eligibility rules, be aware of the following:

  • All eligibility rules must have unique names.
  • You must publish an eligibility rule to make it available to your live environment.

Create an eligibility rule

To create an eligibility rule, follow these steps:

  1. In MXO, go to Orchestrate > Eligibility Rules.
  2. Click + Create. When the editor opens, you are presented with a free-form page, as follows:

  5. Click Save when your eligibility rule is complete. MXO displays an error message if you attempt to save an invalid eligibility rule. For example, if you enter a numerical value as part of a boolean eligibility rule. MXO also highlights the invalid parts of the eligibility rule as you type to enable you to find and change them easily.

Copy an eligibility rule

From time to time you may want to clone an existing eligibility rule, rather than creating a new one from scratch. To copy an eligibility rule, follow these steps:

  1. In MXO, go to Orchestrate > Eligibility Rules.

  2. Find the desired eligibility rule in the list and click copy icon Copy. The assets editor opens.

  3. Rename the new eligibility rule and make any other required changes.

  4. Click Save to finish the cloning process.

Important: When you clone an expression, "-copy" is appended to the name of the cloned eligibility rule. We recommend renaming cloned eligibility rules before saving to avoid having multiple eligibility rules with very similar names.

Edit an eligibility rule

To edit an eligibility rule, follow these steps:

  1. In MXO, go to Orchestrate > Eligibility Rules.

  2. Click the eligibility rule you want to open for editing.

  3. Double-click the item in the eligibility rule you want to change and select Edit in Data Item Picker.

  4. Edit the eligibility rule as required.

  5. Click Save to finish the editing process.

Important: You cannot edit the return type for an eligibility rule that is currently in use. You must remove any dependencies associated with the eligibility rule first.

View eligibility rule dependencies

To see a list of the dependencies associated with an eligibility rule, follow these steps:

  1. In MXO, go to Orchestrate > Eligibility Rules.

  2. Find the desired eligibility rule in the list and click dependencies iconDependencies.

  3. In the modal window that appears, you can see the list of dependencies for that eligibility rule. You may click any dependency to open it in a new window and edit or remove it. Then, click Refresh to reload the dependencies list.

  4. Click Ok in the modal window to close it.

Delete an eligibility rule

To delete an eligibility rule, follow these steps:

  1. In MXO, go to Orchestrate > Eligibility rules.

  2. Find the desired eligibility rule in the list and click delete icon Delete.

  3. If the eligibility rule is associated with one or more entities, the modal window that appears will show the dependencies list and block the deletion process. Access each dependency and remove the association before deleting the eligibility rule. Then, click Refresh to reload the dependencies list and ensure you have removed them all.

  4. Click Delete to complete the deletion process.
