Reusing custom parameters across properties

For every data point created in Digital there is a corresponding field in the Medallia Experience Cloud reporting module. This is true for survey components as well as custom parameters. To avoid having to duplicate fields when working with custom parameters across multiple properties you can take advantage of reusable custom parameters. This adds the capability to reuse existing Experience Cloud report fields for custom parameters, as well as making an ad-hoc custom parameter mapping reusable. Reusing a custom parameter means the same reporting field mapping can be used across all properties in the account.

Restriction: This feature is inactive by default. Ask your Medallia expert to file a Feature activation request with Medallia Support.
Use the self-service reusable custom parameter fields to:
  • Determine if the custom parameter is mapped to an existing reporting field or create a new reporting field.
  • Configure a new or existing custom parameter to be reused in other properties within the account. See Defining a custom parameter mapping as reusable.

Note the following important features of reusing custom parameters:

  • All Digital custom parameters are defined in reporting fields as Q-Fields of type "Text". Changing custom parameters to any other type is not supported and the fields could be automatically reverted.
  • It is not possible to map two custom parameters within the same property to the same report field as it could cause data inconsistencies.
  • It is only possible to use self-service mapping to fields that have been created in Digital. To map custom parameters to fields that were previously created in the Admin suite please contact your Medallia Digital Expert.

With reusable custom parameters enabled, when you add a new custom parameter the Report field mapping options control mapping of the custom parameter to a Medallia Experience Cloud field. Add a reusable custom parameter options.
