Roles
Roles are preconfigured access rights to DXA features and properties that you can assign to individual users and user groups.
Adding roles
From the navigation bar, go to settings > Account Settings > Roles and click + Add Role.
Enter a Name for the role.
If you're using LDAP or SiteMinder user authentication, in the Group text box, enter the LDAP or SiteMinder group name.
In the Permissions area, select one or more permissions to assign to users with this role or click select all.
In the Properties area, select one or more properties to give access to users with this role or click select all.
Click Save Role.
The new role can now be assigned to new or existing users.
Assigning roles to new or existing users
When adding a new user or editing an existing user, click the Access tab.
In the Access tab, in the Role dropdown menu:
To assign the user with all Permissions and access to all Properties, select Administrator.
Note: Only administrators can add or edit properties and add or edit users.To assign the user with predefined Permissions and Properties, select a previously created role.
To assign the user with custom Permissions and Properties, select Custom.
Click Save User.
The user now has access to the permissions and properties associated with the selected role.
Permissions
Permission | Description |
---|---|
Administrator | Gives full access to all Decibel features and functionality, including settings. Only administrators can add and edit users, roles, properties, tags, blocking rules, API keys, annotations, data layers, and account subscriptions, configure sampling, and subscribe to health checks. Note: You do not need to create an administrator role. This role is automatically available when adding users to DXA. |
Creator | An individual permission combining the following permissions:
Users assigned with the Creator permission can create, view, edit, and delete all reports in DXA. |
Property Settings | Allows users to add and edit channels, custom dimensions, additional dashboards, tracked events, regex paths, rules, the tracking code, and pages. Note: When enabled, Property Settings is available under settings on the navigation bar. |
Sessions | Gives access to all session data in a property, including access to the session list and Session Details, and utilization of Experience Issues. Note: If masking or unmasking are configured, this will apply also for users only with the sessions permission. I.e. if you decide to mask a particular selector or unmask a particular field, these will be masked/unmasked for session replays viewed by this user and all users in the account. However, unless they have administrator access, they cannot edit the masking/unmasking configuration. |
Session Replays | Gives users permission to view session replays from within a property. Note: Session replays can be shared with and viewed by non-Decibel users, but users must be logged in to Decibel to utilize session replay functionality, such as |
Heatmaps | Gives users permission to view heatmaps for a property. |
Forms | Gives users permission to view all forms and form data for a property, enabling Discover Forms, Analyze Forms, and form error reporting. |
Segments | Gives users permission to add, view, edit, and share segments for a property, enabling Define Segments and Discover Segments (New). Note: Users without segment permissions can still apply segments that were shared with everyone, or specifically with them, to relevant features. |
Funnels | Gives users permission to add, view, and edit funnels for a property, enabling Define Funnels and Analyze Funnels. Note: Users with this permission can only add, view, and edit funnels that they created themselves or funnels that were shared with everyone or directly with them. |
Alerts | Gives users permission to add, view, edit, and subscribe to alerts for a property. |
Integrations | Gives users access to the connect settings, where they can configure data connectors and data streams for a property. |
Reports | Gives users access to the Discover Journeys, Pages, and DXS reports. Note: To view technical error reports, you must enabled Reports and Sessions permissions. |
Archives | Gives users access to view, download, delete, and edit the retention period of all archived data in the archive. |
HTML Search | Allows the user to access the HTML search report when the user also has Sessions permissions enabled. |
